Great Western Boots (off of 290 near 43rd) was recommended to me and I was very happy with the job they did on mine.

Great western boots is great.

I have a custom pair from there that are great. I also use them to resolve my others.

David is a nice guy, great bookmaker.

I have a pair of Lucchese boots that are 6-7 years old now, I cant find any boots that have been worthy of replacing them. Not even current Luccheses.

I dropped my wife's Leddy's off with David at Great Western Boots this morning for a repair. Great place.

Buddy just got his back from Lucchese refurb shop. Price was $250 & they look brand new. As others say, a local guy can do soles & polish for less than half that. I had a pair of 1883s that didn't fit well at all. Looked very nice, but the foot and heel were way to narrow for my taste.

Square toe boots look a little limp wristed for my taste but I guess some of these guys dont let it bother them.

Had a pair of Lucchese handmade full quill ostrich re-soled by Holicks in the late 1990's. I figured they knew what they were doing.

The first set of soles and heels on my Lucchese boots lasted maybe 6 months - pretty much worn every day, and VERY disappointing. I'm on my 4th set after 4 years, and I had to have a patch right on the boot/sole line this last time (salt and sweat in Corpus). Not sure if I'll buy another pair, but I love the square toe smooth ostrich.

I'm with you on this Queso. I've had one pair. Won't get another.

That surprises me. I have worn the same pair of Red Wings to work almost every day for the last 4 years and have no issues

I think it has to do with the person's foot. I have a pair of redwings, and they are OK. But my Ariats are far more comfortable and long lasting....and they don't cost near as much. I tried on some Double H a while back...in fact, every pair they had at the store...terrible...TERRIBLE boots. But...some people love them. **shrug**

This is why there are a bazillion choices for boots.

I've bought two pairs from Heritage Boots and love them. Great boots.
We just dropped $650.00 on Lucchese boots for my wife. My first non Heritage boots, hope they last.

The square toe works better for my wide foot. Not a matter of "style" or "fad." Purely a matter of comfort.

I didn't like square toes until I was given a pair for Christmas. They are awesome. Most comfortable boots I've had.

I have 2 pair of 1883 that have been great for 7-8 years. My expensive pair of gator belly classics have been trash and I've only had them a couple years. Pretty soured on them because of it.

Both my Heritage boots are snip toed. My son says I'm old school. I think the wide look a little strange. But to each his own.

I always thought the square toe looked kinda f- ggoty.... until I couldn't find anything but a pair of them to buy and actually tried some on. My old big ass EE foot hadn't ever been so comfortable in boots. They're most all I wear these days.

Square toed boots are time travelers. Back in time to the 60s/early 70s when field goal kickers kicked straight on instead of soccer style. l bet they wore Dingos in their time off the field, too.

lol....Square toes? What is the OB gonna find to poke fun/disagree about next?

I don't like them either.

The only reason I even have a pair of pointy toe boots is because my dad had a custom pair made with a gator he shot on the Murphree and handed them down because they don't fit him well. I've never worn them though.
