Anybody own one? Looking at upgrading before next hunting season.

I've got one and like it a lot. I ordered one size bigger than I'd usually order and I'd highly recommend that. It fits perfectly, has a great hood, is good in the rain and is comfortable to wear while moving around. I will say that it's not super thick and you need to be layered properly while wearing it but I feel like it's plenty useful in Texas.

Yeah, their sizes aren't for us bigger texan boys...

More of a Euro cut if you know what I mean. Size up!

Good thing I'm slim & trim. Hunting in South Texas it rarely gets too cold and the heater in the blind will handle that. Looking for something wind and water proof that is easy to move around in. I like to get out and walk senderos and glass

What is the outer material made of? Would it easily tear/rip if I brushed up against something thorny?

I would buy something else for South Texas hunting.

IMO the extra expense is not necessary if not hunting in the mountains.

I'm not really worried about the extra expense as I am reducing the weight and bulkiness of what I wear now. I've been using the game guard bib coveralls and hunting jacket which is ok but you walk around like the stay puft marshmallow man

I don't have a kuiu jacket, but I have a decent amount of experience with softshells.

As far as technical fabrics go, heavier softshell jackets are about as good as it gets for abrasion and puncture resistance. Softshells vary a lot, but very few are truly water and windproof.

Not sure of the material but it's smooth. Never catches or tears from my experience .. (Just hunted the hill country with it this past season)

Great jacket. You won't regret it

I've worn mine for a couple of years in some pretty thick brush, mesquite, etc... and it doesn't show any wear. It seems to be sturdy enough for most hunting uses. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the wind and weather resistance, that's where I noticed a difference between it and other jackets I've worn.

Bought one a couple of years ago and sized up per others recommendations. Had to send I back because it swallowed me. I wear a large and it fits true to size. Great quality and does not tear when snagged on brush.

As for sizing -- In Carhartt and Mountain Hardwear I wear an XL, in Patagonia, North Face, Arcteryx, Marmot, and Filson I wear an XXL. But in Kuiu I wear XXXL. Unless you like a very snug fit, you might need to go up a aize, or possibly even two sizes.

All these brands offer measurements to their sizing. xl to xxl can vary drastically by brand. Find one of your favorite dress shirts and get the measurements from their site, then compare it to Kuiu's size charts.

I like Ariat pro shirts... I compare them to
