Before heading out, you will want to confirm that the front gate is open. Members have a card key to open it, but on some (maybe all) tournament days it is left open.


Some of the other members on this board may know if it will be open.

Eh not really. I told him I was looking to join and he basically just said there's another pistol match in two weeks. The website says the whole point is to see you shoot and handle a weapon so I wasn't going to push.

Frankly this kind of process is not really my bag. I'm not much for these meet n greet kind of situations. But it's their club so I'll respect their rules.

No meet and greet when I joined. Two hunting buddies were members and sponsored me. Iirc , the sponsors attest to your gun handling abilities etc. That may be why he wants to see you shoot.

that's what the website says and it makes plenty of sense. Which is why I didnt see much need to talk membership. I wouldn't expect them to sponsor me just because I drove out there. Just a Weird thing for me to basically say "hey stranger watch me shoot this gun and then vouch for me. Thanks." Or doing the competition and then having to be like "who wants to sponsor me?"

The pistol club near me requires you to attend their monthly meeting and submit an application. Then the next week you attend a safety briefing at their range. If you pass that then they vote you in. Easy enough. I visited and the facility is fine, but no clays.

Agree that it would be odd to just ask but I think most would sponsor you. If it does become a pain (or already is), I'll sign one sponsorship and maybe someone else on this board would do the same. They have good facilities, reasonable fees and a variety of shooting options which is why I stay active

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on that if I get desperate. This is a bit of a hassle, but at this point I'm even less comfortable asking someone to stick their neck out for an anonymous internet poster. Maybe if I get one on my own so you know at least someone met me and doesn't think I'm a nutjob
