This is at least third hand so I'm not certain it's legit. Word is that it was shot on Yoakum Dunes WMA. Anyone out there know whether this is true? It looks from TPWD's website to be a new WMA.

How does this deer stack up against the biggest mule deer killed in Texas? A Google search wasn't too helpful on what the state records are.

Brad McCoy (Colt's dad) held the record at one time, but I'm not sure of the score.

Damn sure beats a 223" and it was in second place several years ago....

Haven't heard of any big ones like this coming from Yoakum Dunes WMA but it's certainly possible. Some monsters running around in those shinnery oaks in that part of the state. I'll ask around.

Yes it did come from Yoakum Dunes. He was the Big Time Texas Hunt Mule deer winner. Killed yesterday morning according to TPWD FB page. They didn't give a score.

That deer was shot on the old Fitzgerald Ranch in northeast Yoakum County and northwest Terry County, south of Whiteface. I appraised that ranch on two different occasions several years ago, before TNC bought it. There are some big mule deer in that shinnery country as well as a lot of Lesser Prairie Chicken.
