I may be too late, but I figured I would give the OB a chance. My indecisiveness last week saw me lose out on a fine black male. My family is looking to add a black male, either sex chocolate, or yellow female with dark coloration similar to my 8 year old male.

He came from a breeder in Bryan, TX that has since moved to Colorado.

We got a female black lab in March from Donnie Littlejohn's Moccasin Creek Kennel in Kilgore. Can't say enough good things about Donnie and our dog. Ours was out of a litter by Lil Souie, and she supposedly is due today with another.

Just adopted a yellow lab puppy the day after Thanksgiving from a rescue outfit in San Antonio, don't know anything about her heritage but we love her just the same, and sorry about rule #1, never have figured out how to post pictures, may have to change user name to "5x" for the new kid

Oops, it is Danny rather than Donnie. Our girl comes from a long line of champion retrievers, which comes in handy in her role as either a pool float or a couch warmer. Neighborhood squirrels live in terror much like our yard guy. Really, really sweet and happy dog.

Cas, I didn't even see your post. Danny is a really good guy. And VERY honest on the phone. When I got mine, who was bout a year old, I talked to him for about an hour. He had 3 trained dogs. He gave strengths and weaknesses for each one. When I got there, he was spot on. She's about 7 now. Hope I don't need to see him again for quite a while.

He had me talk to a guy from Utah later. I told him whatever Danny tells you on the phone will be what you see when you get there. He was worried about flying in and getting duped. Same deal. Guy shows up and saw exactly what he was told. Left happy with a dog.

And Kilgore is close. He's actually about 5 miles north of Longview. He has fields and ponds on his place to run the dogs if you want to see them work.

I talked to Shellie with Moccasin Creek. Very nice, but no luck on actually having one in hand Christmas morning. Thanks for the suggestion as I may buy from them later on.

He threw a pigeon a few times to show us how our girl worked at the ripe age of 8 weeks. My teenaged daughter thought it was cool until she realized that the pigeon was (a) real and (b) alive. You could have heard that shriek in McKinney.

Dont think they have papers but i know someone with a brand bew batch near paint rock, tx.

At this point, Paint Rock is probably further than I want to drive for a pup with unknown pedigree. Though I don't absolutely need field champion offspring.

Anyone else know of lab pups hitting 8 weeks old before Christmas?

Got ours from Bonnie Crumpler in Canton. The dog is only 7 mo, but has been pretty impressive thus far from a hunting/trainability standpoint. Who knows how he'll turn out, though. He was from a Atta/Buttons breeding and if he continues along his current trajectory I'd have no problem recommending those pups in the future. What I can say for certain is that she was outstanding to work with. She apologetically puts the health and well being of her dogs first and does a great job keeping you in the loop with whats going on. She typically sells most of her litters before they are born, but may have some still hanging around.
