Tired of dealing with broken unreliable feeders. Willing to spend $$ to quit worrying if feeder is going to spin every time I go to lease.
Who makes the best, idiot proof, most reliable, easy to program feeders? Don't care if big name or individual - just want the best. Preferably available in Houston or between there and Bandera.
Thanks

Coffee can and a hand.

Feeders........they will all piss you off. You get what you pay for. You don't have to break the bank, but don't go cheap.

I got the $86 Moultre ones that you have to install the entire thing to the barrel. Installation is a pain, but it has held up so far. Does not use much battery.

All Seasons. I'll never buy anything else.

Doesn't matter what feeder you get, sturdy the legs, put "The Timer", and a rechargeable 12v battery in an ammo can and a solar charger on the outside. Have 4 feeders that have been running for years and never fail to go off.

Had not seen the All Seasons Feeders - really like the idea of the "Stand & Fill". What is the downside to it? Why would you want the standard height feeder that might kill you filling it? We have cows around feeders from time to time - will they destroy the short one vs tall one?

Spin-Cast. Run em year round. Might need a battery every once in a while, nothing else.

The only downside to the stand and fill is when your idiot guest shoots at a deer standing right in front of the feeder and gets a pass through. JB Weld will fix it.

Have used SpinCast motor/timers attached to homemade 55 gal drum feeders for most of my hunting tenure and always had great reliability with just the occasional battery change. another guy on our place bought a Judge recently (quite pricey ... $800 for 300lb capacity) but the varmit proof design is pretty awesome and its been reliable in year one. and don't know mich about their reliability but the guys on the neighboring place use Capsule feeders exclusively and speak highly of them.

Go to Ultramatic in Hempstead. I have crank up tripod feeders from there. Expensive but I've never worked on them.

Hang em high Feeders ... They're like spin cast but everything is welded rather than bolted together. Sturdy as hell.

Get the 12v battery option with solar panel. Haven't replaced a battery in the last 3 years since we bought it.

Texas Hunter. I use them for my corn and protein feeders. Best I've ever used.

Texas Stair and Rail on 59 in Houston. Get the tripod hand crank feeder. They'll put motor, solar, varmint proof cage and anything else you want on there. Best feeder I've ever bought...only feeder I'll buy again.

I bought my feeder from S. Texas Tripod (just south of the Woodlands). They guarantee their feeder (the timing mechanism) for I think 5 years. I paid about $900 for the feeder, but it's top notch and will hold 500 lbs of corn. Have had no problems at all with the mechanism.

Capsule Feeders.

If you're ever in the Coleman area, The Shoppin' Basket there has the best price I've found on them yet.

In 2003 we bought a hang em high for our place in Coleman County. Its still in the exact same place and other than changing the battery it has worked like a champ for over 12 years.

They're expensice but dammed durable.

On time solar elite plus with the win

Bought 3 and loved every one of them and great warranty if u have an issue

Only time had a problem was when my feeder got knocked over by high winds and fell on the timer

I sent it back to la main office and they repaired everything for only the cost of shipping

My brother has them as well and loves them

Also. The on timers were around $150 when I bought them and that was for their wrapped around solar panel with no expose wires and it charges with very little sunlight

No I doont work for them or make any money off them selling

They are top of line in my opinion due to no battery replacement and ease of installation etc

I like Texas Hunter. This past fall I put a complete Texas Hunter feeder kit on an older stand and gave it a new barrel. I thought it was awesome and they really thought through their design. Also the electronics setup was super easy. I hate those that do not have good instructions or even have very tiny printing to make it hard to read the instructions.

I have had Sweeney, All Seasons, and various brands of timers on my homemade feeders. Most of them have changed their design through the years to save corn from the varmint thieves. I really like how you can bolt the entire feeder/timer/motor to the bottom of your container, and most brands now look like that.

I did not dislike any brand. My Sweeney has been blowing fuses and after checking, changing stuff, etc I can't figure it out. The only thing left that I have not changed is the motor which is basically mounted inside (in the corn). So I am going to take that out and buy another Texas Hunter kit to put onto the bottom of my Sweeny feeder.

Lamco or Sweeney I have one of each with over 35 years of service between the two both Bullet proof.
No repairs other than battery's running year round!
