Dumb dog was found chewing on a mach 3 razor and I have been able to find 1 on the ground. Should I wait for symptoms? Induce vomiting with peroxide? Go to a vet now/in the morning for xray?

Vet er said to give him bread to bulk up his stool. That wasn't the vet, but whoever answered the phone. Would they just wait and watch or would they try to retrieve them?

I'd think an xray would tell you pretty quickly and relatively cheaply if theres anything to worry about.

though i wouldnt have to drive as far or through as bad of weather as sean did the other day, its still a bit of a hike to get to the vet. assuming he ate them, is this something they would attempt to retrieve? or would they just wait for bloody stools, vomiting, etc

i want to do the right thing, but if there if the result xray doesnt change the treatment I dont see the point.

Our normal vet called back and just said to watch and check in tomorrow. I've seen some weird stuff in people's gi's, but never dogs. guess I'll have some good xray pictures to post tomorrow

We just had a cat get about 9" of string pulled out of its mouth. They suspected it swallowed a needle and string, so obviously the needle was still in there. We x-rayed, found the needle, and went in though an abscess that had already formed.

Pretty cool x-ray and scary situation, but it all worked out because we found the needle. I'd post pics but I'm not sure if there's some kind of privacy issues with it.

Listen to your vet, but I'd bet they're going to x-ray it pretty quickly.

Ya. The PIPPA (pet information privacy and portability act )of 1988 would stop you from releasing, the pic. Good call.

Actually the same rules apply, ethically speaking. That said, you can post pics if you can remove any identifying information.

That's what I thought. We hadn't labeled anything yet when I took the pic.

no cool xrays. as the dog was bouncing around the office i got a very clear "why are you here again" look from the vet. i was sent on my way and told to call if he has any changes in mood.

you should have seen him fly into the truck on the way out, dude was convinced he was going to get some birds. guess thats a good excuse to go get some dove this evening.

I of course left out his name to comply with PIPPA
