I just found this baby copperhead on my patio. It was actually under my 2yo's little table... And he was sitting at said table. So fortunate he didn't get bit. What are the odds there are more of these babies in close proximity? Any suggestions on deterring these things?

Peacocks or Guinea Hens

My experience is they are rather sluggish, would rather hide, that curl up and bite. Their a dime a dozen around here and have had probably 10 plus bites here in central virginia that have made the news.

Takes quite a bit of venom versus that of a Rattlesnake.

Being 8" or less... It must be very young. Do the broods disperse or stick close together? What about the mother?

Whiterock Creek and Arlington/Grand Prairie has a lot of copperheads. The more comfortable the temperatures are, the more active they'll become. A typical brood around the area is 5-6 babies. How quickly the disperse is partially a function of food availability.

Very close to white rock creek. Babies eat bugs? Need to spray the yard and get rid of the food.

Bite hurts, but only caused swelling and inflammation in the vast majority of cases.

When I lived in Grapevine we killed 5 or 6 a year, almost all about that size.

What part of Dallas? I live near white rock and am surprised I haven't crossed paths with any

This thread reminds me of the golf commercial where the monster comes out of the water and grabs the golfer and caddy. This, while the announcers continue to whisper the he has a 9 iron. Not sure if that is going to be enough club.
