Getting ready to purchase a handgun from Bud's Gun Shop. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with them?

Also, they are offering up a lifetime warranty on the gun for $16.50. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm not much into paying extra for product warranties at the time of purchase, but haven't really considered this option for firearms before...

Thanks Ags.

Great reviews for Buds (I've had zero problems with them). No experience with the warranty though.

Buds can be a bit slow to ship, but their customer service and prices are hard to beat.

Make sure to check with your FFL before ordering and let them know a gun is coming. If you pick an FFL off of Bud's list, they just ship the gun w/o verifying the FFL is available to take the transfer.

Lots of guns already come with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser. What are you looking at buying? For most decent quality guns, I don't think a "lifetime warranty", especially from a third party, is worth it.

Bought from buds twice now. Never had an issue with them. Usually get your shipment within a week or so. They can be slow to clear your e-checks if that's how you pay though. Not sure why it takes them 5 days to clear an EFT.... but it's no biggie.

Had an issue with a shotgun I bought through them, but I worked with the manufacturer instead of Bud's. Not Bud's fault the gun had a defect. They are hard to beat on price, plus free shipping, plus no tax in Texas.

Thanks for the information Ags! Went ahead and made the purchase and declined the lifetime warranty.

$330 for a Ruger LC9S. Free shipping and no tax. Already contacted my FFL to be on the lookout for the shipment.

I had seen someone else mention that Bud's can be a bit slow at times. This is an early Christmas gift for me (assuming I can keep my hands off of it until then) so no urgency in delivery.

I did a bit of research on Ruger and warranties and it sure doesn't seem as though I need to worry about supplemental warranties with those guys. The Bud's warranty did provide free shipping which could possibly save me some bucks, but I figure I'll take my chances and assume that I won't have any issues that require warranty work.

No problems ordering from them, ever.

Never bothered with their warranty stuff. Seems a lot like the extended warranties offered everywhere else....just a way to make a little extra.

If you have a problem gun, deal with the manufacturer.

Texas Use Tax Return

What is Use Tax?
- A tax, complementary to the sales tax, imposed on taxable goods and services that are purchased, leased or rented for personal or business use, storage or consumption in Texas on which Texas sales or use tax has not previously been paid. Texas use tax is due regardless if another state's sales or use tax has been paid. Examples of items subject to use tax include purchases made over the Internet or the telephone from an out-of-state seller who does not collect tax and items purchased while visiting another state or country.

Who Should File This Form ?
- Any person or business, not permitted for Texas sales and use tax, that has not paid Texas sales or use tax on taxable goods and services brought or shipped into the state for use, storage or consumption. Persons and businesses that are permitted for Texas sales and use tax cannot use this form and must report any taxable purchases on their sales and use tax return.

When to File?
- This return, with payment, should be filed on or before the 20th day following the period (month or year) during which items subject to use tax are brought into Texas. If the 20th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the next business day is the due date for the return and payment.

The link to the State Comptroller's form if you'd like to know where to find it.

I have purchased several firearms from them over the years (I'm local) and I've always had a good experience. During firearmaggedon their prices went up and while they came back down now I can generally beat their price at other gun stores in town.
