Recently borrowed a buddy's kayaks for some cove and river fishing and now I HAVE TO HAVE ONE. I was wondering if anyone has any leads on getting some cheap used or demo fishing kayaks in the DFW area. Here is the one I used and am looking for something similar.

Hit up the classifieds on TKF. T&P for your wallet.

Look on craigslist. There is a guy in Rowlett that sells used Jackson's and those will be a huge improvement on what you paddled this weekend.

It is addicting, My 7 year old and I spent a few hour on WRL this weekend.

TKF is mostly Houston are people. TexasFishingForum had a kayak section that is mostly Dallas people

Also, check out Mariner Sails. They are the best yak shop in DFW and have previous years models as well as the occasional demo unit for sale

They also do demo days at white rock on Thursday (so you can try some out and find what you do and don't like)

Craigslit is also a good option but inspect them carefully before buying. Lots of stories of cracked yaks off craigslist

Kayaks sell like hotcakes during the summer on craigslist. I have a perception pescador 12 that I absolutely love. You should be able to find one on craigslist for around $400.

The one you posted a picture of is a decent kayak but I believe it is only 10 feet long. I think the 12 foot long kayaks provide a lot more versatility. If you are going to be paddling several miles in a day, taking an overnight trip, or heading out past the breakers in the surf the 12 foot kayaks will make it so much easier on you. The ten footers are good for if you are only going to be going a couple of miles and fishing lakes and creeks.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the info! I was debating going to a larger Kayak. Guess that may be a good option.

dtkprowler...I have a Pelican Castaway 116 that I am wanting to sell. It's about 4 years old and has no damage to the hull. Set up for fishing with a rod holder and anchor trolley. One large hatch on the front, one right in front of the seat and another in the back (which is pretty much worthless b/c of position, but it's there). Google the name and all the pictures will be the same as what I have. Decent kayak that is lightweight and easy to transport. I live in Midlothian so not far from the DFW area.
