Dogs are carrying fleas. Their medicine evidentially can't keep up. I haven't noticed any coming in on myself. Assuming they're in the yard. Spray demon wp?

I think the spectracide kills fleas. They make a granule you spread too, I think.

Step 1: Treat the yard with your preferred insecticide
Step 2: Eliminate, reduce or deter the source. Often times they will come into your yard on squirrels or stray cats. Both of which can be bad in my area. Insert a joke about a vet and a bow...for the squirrels of course.
Step 3: Treat your dogs with a proper flea preventative.
Step 4: Have a beer
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit

Been through this a few times. Go to your vet and get some comfortis. It is a little pricy but way worth it. It will kill the fleas on the dogs within an hour. Go buy some malathion. Put 6 tbs/gallon of water and spray the crap outta your yard. Sprinkle borax over your carpet, let it sit for a for minutes, then vacuum it very throughly. Empty the bin outside. Then do your floors again. Then bathe your dogs really well. See if you have a self service dog wash somewhere close by. Spray your yard every 3-4 days for 2-3 weeks. It isn't hard to get rid of them, just takes some time. But it starts with stopping them at the source, your dogs.

Search this forum for prior posts, but don't bother treating your yard unless you like burning money. You have to treat the host (dogs)!!!!! Bravecto has been working well for a lot of people (kills adult fleas), but I still like Sentinel for long term control for most dogs.

I cnat rememer the specifics but You will have to treat everything twice sepetated by the right time with something that will kill the eggs.

The first time you treat you will get the adults and the eggs but you won't get the intermediate life stages.

Good luck, its a a major pain to get rid of them.

I've had issues with fleas this spring as well but have managed to get them under control recently.

I changed from Frontline to Bravecto. It's been working well so far. I treated the immediate yard around the house, and also treated/cleaned dog beds, carpet around sleeping areas, etc.

Apparently diatamacious earth will do the trick in the yard also. Kills fleas and ticks. Not sure how big of an area you are treating.

Dont vacuum unless you have a bagless and can clean it out well. You will spread eggs through your house. Get some sentinel on them and let it do the job. Fleas have a vicious circle of hatching. If you spray, you will be doing it every thirteen days to get at them all. Fleas want to be on the dogs, they are a better host, let them get on the dogs and die.

Success at eradicating fleas via yard spraying is as likely as seeing a gin-you-wine chupacabre

We use Nexgard. Started about a month ago. So far so good. And our pastures are very high because of the rain and inability to cut the hay.

As far as sprays for the yard, I agree with whoever above suggested Malathion. It works really well in my experience.

When we bought our house the previous owners and their two labs let fleas get all over, inside and out. To get rid of them we had to treat everything - the yard with some flea/tick killer from Lowes, give the dog a flea bath and pull the stunned and dead ones off him every 6 weeks or so, put a flea coller on the cat and stay on top of vacuuming. By the second summer we were there the problem was just about gone.

Just went through this...what a pain in the ass. Here's what we did and it seems to be working.

1. Spread "Seven Dust" granules over your lawn and water in.
2. Give animals Capstar pill that will kill the fleas that are on them
3. Take apart your house and clean the **** out of everything, including drapes, bedding, couch cushions, etc.
4. Sprinkle de-fleaing powder all over your carpets, rub in with a broom, then let set for as long as you can (1-24 hours). Vacuum.
5. Bath your animals in flea shampoo
6. Treat with expensive (the knock-offs suck) flea med you put on back (I used K9 Advantix).

Good luck. The rain really made this year a bad one for fleas!

Treat all animals and the environment (house, yard, etc...). Can take up to 3 months to get rid of them. Check out Dr. Flea from K-State Vet School, he is the expert in this field and tests all of the products in infested homes in Florida.
