I broke one of the lenses on my Costa Inlet sunglasses and want to get them fixed because I love this pair. The problem is they won't tell you how much the repair will be until you send them in. They do have the 580 P lenses in them. Has anybody had their glasses repaired through them?

Sent another pair back today. Third time I've sent glasses back. Never paid more than $60 to get them fixed...not including shipping.

60 to 90 depending but.... How in the hell did you break a poly lens?

Both times ive sent mine in have been due to the frames busting but I've never paid more than the $12.95 processing fee.

Always a good experience for me so far & I will continue to only buy Costa glasses because of it.

Sending mine in for the 4th time today in 6 years. Never have paid more than the processing fee including when I broke my 400G lens.
1.Broken Lens>>replaced lens
2.Broken arm>>sent new pair
3. Broken Frame in 1/2 on nose piece>>>sent new pair
4. Broken Frame in 1/2 on nose piece>>hopefully sending new pair....

I think a lot of it has to do how you describe the incident. If they can prove that you broke them because you were mistreating/abusing them, then I think they will charge you ~$50.00 in addition to the processing fee. I also believe that the max they will charge you for a repair is this much. Not 100% sure, though.

Edit: I wear Harpoon Tortoise 400G's. Great all around glasses, but I guess I have a fat head, so the frames have now broke 3 times due to taking them off from around my neck.

Thanks for your input. They are the 580 polarized glass lenses. Looking online I was seeing mixed reviews on their customer service.

I paid over $100 for my 580g lens broken glass. I've also sent in a pair and they didn't charge to fix a crack. Box of chocolates

Edit to 580g not p

580g not p... that's why. Yeah, they are brittle because they are glass. No biggie, just is what it is. They run between 60-90 to replace if they feel it wasn't a material defect, and honestly, with glass, it usually isn't.

The mixed reviews come from people who buy glass lenses and don't understand that they will shatter and get upset when they are asked to pay for new lenses. I see both sides of it really. It's not a perfect material but optically, nothing beats glass and they are much more durable in regards to scratching than anything else.

A lot of the time they can chock cracks up to something wrong with the materials. Usually stress induced and usually because the frame is too small for the person's face or (more likely) they were not adjusted by an optician (or whoever) correctly. Saw this happen many times in the old store.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have a pair of Costa Caballito's that my dog got a hold of a few months ago and chewed on the right lens/frame pretty good. I don't really care about the damage to the frame but if I sent them back to Costa would they pop new lenses in for me?

I'm going to do a solid referral for Costa on this old balls thread, since I just got off the phone with them. Sent in my 6 year old skimmers after I snapped the arm clean through the hinge (my own fault) and since they're discontinued they're spotting me a new pair for the $49 would-be-repair fee. That's on a pair of 6 year old glasses, that I broke (granted, I was taking them off my face and the twist snapped it), cant ask for much better customer service than that.

Now the only question is, what on earth do I order? I have Maui Jim's in the truck, so these were my fishing/lawn mowing glasses, looks like I'm about to get a big upgrade, and a strong case of brand loyalty return...

Any recs on favorite fits? Just have to be nylon, non special edition (no camo):

What's the size of your dome?

I've got a YUGE noggin so I like the Zane. I'm on my second pair since my first is somewhere at the bottom of West Bay now. But on my first pair, I snapped the earpiece taking them off. I spent a little extra on the shipping to expedite the repairs but they only charged me the $12.95 processing fee.

Imo, eye guy or eBay.

I've bought three pairs from eBay for ~ 100 bucks less than msrp and all have been solid glasses and the real deal.

Do they replace lenses due to scratches?

Hat size 7 3/8, large to normal large. Have a stupid fat/flat nose with zero bridge support though, so a nose-piece works better than the all plastic frames. I like the looks of the Corbina tortoise with blue lenses so far.

Go to an eye doctor that sells costas. they don't apply tax to them.

For a fee and shipping costs. I think it's something like $50 for lenses and $12 for shipping. Still cheaper than a new pair.

I've sent in glasses with frame issues (corroded hinge) that had slightly scratched 580 glass lenses. Got a replacement pair with new lenses for just the shipping fee. I think how much you get charged really depends on how you word the issues that you want to have fixed.

I just sent in my Caballito pair about a week ago. Paint/finish started bubbling on multiple spots of the frame and the nose pads were wearing off. Will be interested to see what they say. My account says they're assessing the repair order now. 4 years ago I sent in a pair for repair and it turns out they couldn't make the repair and that style had been discontinued. So they told me to pick out a new style and they sent me a brand new pair (which happens to be the ones I just sent in, 4 years later, for repair). I've had good experiences with them before so hope this one is no different.

Anyone have the blue mirror 580P and don't think they actually dim(not the right word) in bright sun conditions? I bought them because they had the least light transmission but honestly the light feels just as harsh(again, not quite the right word) with them on in bright sun.

Did I buy a nice pair of sunglasses that do block the harmful rays without having to walk around "in the dark"? My previous Maui Jims definitely give me some noticeable relief if I put them on in the sun.

I always wonder if I somehow received a defective set of lenses.

Ordered my first pair of Costa's this morning (Cut). I've only had one other pair of nice polarized sunglasses (Oakley), looking forward to see how they are!

Absolutely agree. My favorite sunglasses I have ever owned or worn. I have 580G blue lenses.

I just buy new lenses off amazon and put them in myself. I've been mostly happy with the poly lenses from Fuse.

If the are glass, send them in.
