Howdy,
I just bought a house, planted a garden, 4 trees, and a flower bed but I am worried that I screwed up. I bought the Scotts Weed and Feed Bonus S and placed it on my entire yard. I tried to not get in my flower beds and garden but some did get on the edges. However, after reading more up on this I am worried that I could potentially kill my other plants and trees. Should I be worried and if so what do I do?

Thanks

You should be fine.

Weed and feed is a terrible product IMO. Not efficient in delivering the herbicide, and can be devastating on non target plants. Atrazine should've gone out months ago to be most effective.

You should be fine for the most part, but you would be better off with a different approach similar to Randy Lemon or Neil Sperry.

Anybody else just read this thread in a Scottish accent?

Honestly the best defense against weeds is a healthy turf. Ignore the weeds and concentrate on making your turf thick and lush across seasons. Your lawn is perennial, but most weeds are seasonal.

Ok great, thanks for the input. I will start avoiding the weed and feed products now. I got it because I have a ton of clover. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of not reading instructions and just going at it.

When I had a bermuda yard, I typically followed the Neil Sperry approach and had a lot of success - pre-emergent (Halts or Dimension) in early March with a booster in early June. Fertlize in early April and hit it again every 8 weeks or so until fall. Definitely no weed and feed products If/when necessary, I'd spot treat weeds that did emerge. Many times that was just digging them up. On occassion, I's use a broadleaf spray (just the small sauirt bottle) but would be careful not to get it on any of my trees or shrubs - just spot use only.

My current yard is st Aug. i just stick with a similar fertilizer schedule and keep it healthy. No lawn-wide weed treatment at all. Just spot if necessary, which is rare.

To the points above, healthy turf is the best weed preventer there is.

You'll be fine but Atrazine will stress everything, including your grass.

2x Randy Lemmon schedule. Take this 3x a year and call me in the morning:https://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/mobile_product_info.php?cPath=59_188_387&products_id=2495
