Been working on a VZ-58.

Specs:
rapid fire receiver
Ohio ordinance works parts kit (original mil spec kit)
CNc warrior fire control group(I think, or maybe it was bone steel arms)
Thread adapter pinned and welded to the barrel to make it 16"
Temporarily I attached a surefire muzzle break and put my can on it.

Getting everything to to fit with the American receiver, 922 parts, and the original kit was a pain. Have to work out a hiccup in the FCG as it would appear that it wasn't disconnecting occasionally.

But a pretty cool rifle, which is much more comfortable to shoot compared to my AK.

Currently renovating the house, and was able to expand the master closet. I'm adding a built in safe (about 16"x36"): 12 or 14 gauge liner, pour lightweight concrete between the studs for heat resistance, heavy duty hinges and double doors, etc. Topped off with standard cabinet doors to keep it looking like a boring closet.

I know this is worthless without pictures, but I've had several projects recently.

Started building a 12' x 5' playhouse for my sisters kids. She watches my kid also while my wife and I are at work, so my kid will get to play in it too. So far it's just a basic frame, but eventually will have siding and a proper roof.

Got some cabinets that were demoed from one of my jobs, so I installed them in my garage and then completely cleaned out and reorganized the whole garage.

Started redoing all of the electrical in my garage. Added a sub panel, added several lights, several circuits with plugs, etc.

Rode my dirt bike through an absolute mudfest at the last TORCS race, so I completely disassembled the bike down to just the chassis and motor, cleaned it, then reassembled it cleaning each piece as I went. Then when I got it back together, it wouldn't start, so i pulled the carb and found the pilot jet clogged. I cleaned out the jet using a bunch of cleaner and wire brush, then went to put it back in the carb and accidentally cracked it in half by over tightening it. So I ordered a new jet, put it all back together, and now the bike starts literally on the first kick, even when cold. It also idles way better and I can turn the choke off almost immediately.

I was given a large 3.5" Porter Cable framing nailer, but I don't need it so I was just going to clean it up and sell it. I hooked it to air to test it out, shot two shots and some sort of seal inside blew and it wouldn't work. So I disassembled it, found the busted seal, ordered a new one, and replaced it. Now the gun runs like a champ. Look for it in the classifieds soon.

I won't bother with pics 'cause my project is boring (though a labor of love)...

Baby proofing our house - made all te more enjoyable by the fact that my wife doesn't understand physics but "wanted to be an engineer"

LOL good times!

1948 Logan Model 210. 24" between centers, 10" swingover. It is in near immaculate shape.
schmellba99 I am also a Logan lathe owner (model 816). Mine cosmetically definitely isn't as immaculate as yours but still mechanically almost brand new so I can assure you that you will enjoy it. Couple of points:

1. Did the previous owner include the change gears?
2. Logan still supports these lathes. You can find any parts you need here.

First real woodworking project I've ever done. It's not AGGIE WH08P quality and craftsmanship, but I am pleased with what it turned out to be. I think it'll be good enough to last 20 years with some repairs here and there along the way. Other than modifications the day of assembly, I did all of the cutting, some pre-assembly and painting, and then my dad helped with assembly.

Here is the start of the assembly process.

Here is the floor support. We decided to add some feet to spots to help avoid sag and stress. We also placed rocks under each foot to help with stability and hopefully prolong the life of the boards.

Here are the two sides. Don't laugh too much at my artistic abilities. But after trying the trees on the small sides, I knew not to worry about trying something similar on front and back.

Front and back views.

My parents have some burlap that they're going to use to make some curtains out of to help conceal us while in the blind. The old blind didn't have them, but the windows were smaller so we got by without, but it would have been nice if it had them as well.

I've got a picture of my plans, but I'm not sure how clear they'll be. Sorry for those expecting AGGIE WH08P type detail.

I know you can look at it and critique it and find the flaws, but it was a learning experience and more about the sense of satisfaction of doing it myself as opposed to just going to buy one (and definitely saving money as well). I would do things differently if I built another one, but this was based somewhat off of the smaller 4'x4' blind this replaced and just from a vision in my head that then changed slightly in the middle of the build and after I had basically done the initial frameout.

Yes, I have change gears. Haven't gotten around to messing with them yet though. Threading is, sadly, far more advanced than I am at right now. I haven't had a chance to really play with it too much - just basic things like setting up the 4 jaw, getting my runout down to .001" or so before actually putting a tool to metal, and learning what/how the dials actually work. One of these days I intend to take a couple of classes at the local JUCO to really get my feet wet.

Thanks for the link - I ordered a user's manual a while back, though I've got to admit that it seems pretty light to me in terms of how to do various things. I may look at the site you posted and see if there are some better instructional documents available.

Well it's kind of a project it. Laid off in March cause of loloil. Was already looking into leaving though. It's been a long hiring process but I have my polygraph tomorrow for the Houston Fire Department and should start the academy at the end of October. I don't think I've looked forward to something so much.

p.s. this stuff is awesome guys. Gives me ideas on stuff to do in my free time.

Once it cools off, I'd recommend applying some caulk in all your joints/seams if you haven't already. Just to keep the moisture out and away from your unpainted interior wood.

Looks great and you will create some great memories in it!

Latest project isn't too exciting. Unless you're my gf, then you think this thing is awesome because your short little 5'2" self can finally reach the spices.

Built it out of premade CD cases and scrap wood I picked up at Michaels while she was looking for classroom decorations.

Here's the entry to my current project and the source of all my anxiety and stress. It's hard to put into words how badly most contractors lack any semblance of skill, craftsmanship or desire to get the job done right the first time.

Not actually my Lastest project, but I just now got pics uploaded.

Just a lil desk for the wifes office that she shares with another agent. Came out alright, pretty simple.

Working on a 'cabin' for my hunting ranch. 8x16 shed style with single pitch roof to lap over the carport. I am headed up there this weekend to finish framing, OSB on exterior walls, Tyvek paper, hang rafters and Solarboard on roof.

On the weekend of the 12th, will hang metal siding, metal roof, electrical (coworker will install) and spray foam insulation.

Weekend of 19th I will put up plywood on interior walls and begin hanging the cedar plank walls.

If anyone wants free hog hunting in exchange for helping me build this project, my email is in my profile.

I used my new table saw for the first time last weekend. The sled's not much, but it will help out on future projects. If I measured my calibration correctly, it is off about .003"/20" from being square...I'll take it.

khk, did you measure it, or use the 5 cut method? I found the 5 cut method is pretty simple.

also, it is hard to see, but before you put the vertical piece on the back (side towards you that you reference the wood on when you push), cut a small chamfer on the lower corner, that way you have a small relief sawdust can collect in and not push your piece off the reference board. You will still need to blow it out some, but a little dust won't throw off your piece like a square corner.

Seems like a good place for this.

Restored and rehung a 3.5lb Rockaway pattern axe head on a 36 inch hickory handle finished with boiled linseed oil after a good sanding with some fine grit sandpaper
