It is amazing how fast atrophy happens. That is five weeks after the wreck and three weeks after the last of six surgeries. I have gotten a lot back with PT but I have a long way to go. Quite a project.

You guys have much more complex projects than I do. All I have done recently is paint a Texas flag on my new fence (I didn't even build the fence). We are gonna have our back porch remodeled this month and it faces this fence so I thought It would be better to look at this instead of a plain old stained fence. I'm thinking about painting an A&M logo or maybe a Rangers Logo to the sides. Haven't decided on that yet. I also planted a bunch of maroon Bluebonnets, Mexican Blankets and a few sunflowers in front of it. They aren't up yet.

I refinished my wood floor. About 1200 sq ft. Instead of sanding, I rented a buffer and used an abrasive pad to scuff the surface. Hooked a shop vac up to it and there was virtually no dust in the house. I sanded the edges by hand with 150 grit paper. That took one day. The next day I vacuumed twice with the shop vac, dry mopped several times with a micro-fiber towel (from Harbor Freight). Turned off the AC. Applied one coat of Bona Mega with a 12 oz bottle of booster (for extra abrasion resistance). Waited 4 hours. Applied another coat. Looks fantastic. I wish I would have done this 10 years ago as PM before the finish was worn down to bare wood in a few places. I didn't even remove the white quarter round. I was always hesitant to get this done because of the stories I had heard about the dust. Even considered replacing the whole floor.

Here's my thread (picture heavy) from the Home Improvement board. I redid my front yard landscape over the past 2.5 years.

A little different. I took a mesquite wafer about 28" in diameter. Cleaned it up...filled the cracks with black epoxy and turquoise, made a three legged cross type base and finished it. All it needs is a home.

I'd love to finish up this transmission swap soon.

I had to take one of the solenoids from the old transmission and put it in the new one.

Sunchaser that is bada$$

How much would you want for that? I think it would look great on our back porch after it gets remodeled here in a couple of weeks. TheTexaspi@gmail.com

Well I guess I will just have to ask you for a high resolution pic of it and then I can scan it into a 3-D printer.

Third....I run a no knowledge shop.

I am the other end of the spectrum from agrams. Once upon a time I bought some wooden ice box plans and made this. To the best of my knowledge it's the only thing I have ever made with a plan.

I started out working on this top while thinking of a unique base. I saw this one. I figured out how it was done from the internet and then took about three days trying to figure out how to build a jig to cut the end of the legs as well as how to figure the angle. It then took about fifteen minutes to build a jig and cut them.....and it worked. That is the fun part to me.

I've got some decent projects in the works (cigar trays/cane/etc) but I finally got a new, bigger lathe in, so have been working on making some bowls:

Ill post some pics later of the new lathe set up. I am a stickler for a good work area/setup, so ive spent more time so far setting up my turning area than actually turning.

I snapped a picture of some bowls I have in various stages of drying.

Ill clean the floor around the lathe and get a picture of that later. There is about a foot deep of shavings under it now... sawdust/woodchip/shavings disposal is always a challenge. I probably have 200-300 gallons on hand I need to get rid of at the moment...

Agrams,
Is there a small benchtop type lathe that's worth anything for turning small pieces like a chess set or a pen?

latest project was opening up the kitchen a bit. Wife always has wanted it opened up a bit so I decided to just do it while she was traveling last week for work
before:

during:

after (pay no attention to the spots on the ceiling, its just paint that's still wet):

Also had an intermediate project during the job when i needed to route the edge on some cabinet trim and I don't yet have a router or a table saw. So i did one of the stupidest/most dangerous/most ingenuitive things i have done so far with power tools and built a "table saw"

Follow up to a previous post:

I didn't like the way the mesquite wafer covered up the three legged base. I turned the wafer into a lazy Susan and gave it to one of my son's MIL.

TruAg did a CAD drawing of the glass top for me and I got someone to cut it. It turned out great IMO.....Thanks Again TA!

I like this much better....

Just curious, any reason for not using red iron and going all wood except for the sheet metal?

I think he's using the original framing that is already there for the barn.

In the tenth month of a new 24 - 36 month project improving a rough, overgrazed, poorly managed 135 acres. Lots of work, but it's all fun. Good wildlife in the area that we hope to improve through proper management. The ultimate goal is to eventually sell, but sometimes that is just plain hard to do.

Decided to remodel the 50 year old barn instead of tearing it down...no doubt it woulda been cheaper to go the red iron way, but the barn frame was so solid that I decided to stick with that. I'm kinda dumb that way. It was also set up on 12' centers which was perfect for 4 horse stalls, tack room, feed room, hay storage, wash room, and a bath with sink, shower, vanity....that and the tack room are air conditioned. Today's shot:

All cleared by hand and chainsaw. A lotttt of sweat (and beer) in that. A little more and it'll be good to go.

Finally got around to finishing out the interior of my office safe project. Took some felt and lined the bottom, then modified some shelving from an old writing desk that is getting trashed.

Works pretty good to keep things like petty cash (nothing but singles, I am LOL poor, checkes, trusts, etc. safe and organized. And i think it is pretty comparable to some interior trim out options originally offered. Next is the exterior detail paint.
