How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Just made this last weekend. It's a combination plyo box and short workout bench (15" high). Has angled sides and non-stick rubber on bottom to keep it from slipping. Total cost: $4. Used scrap metal in the garage, some scrap butcher block left over from my workbench build, and a can of red paint I had lying around. Only thing I had to buy was the bolts/nuts/washers to attach the top (bolted onto gussets on the bottom). Finished the top with a couple coats of tongue oil.

holy crap, and I thought I had project add...

Well my last completed project was putting in a gun safe, but I didn't have room for the safe so I had to completely remodel the master bath so it would fit...

And I still don't have the safe...

Buying a house. Once we're closed, I'm redoing the privacy fence, building a railing on the deck, some painting inside, and replacing all the windows in the house.
id like to know how the Window replacement goes. I have a late 80s home with the original metal trimmed single pane windows I would like to replace.

Easy after you learn the lessons on the 1st one! Ask a friend; buy beer. Install window and learn.

Bought a Bridgeport mill (EZ TRAK 2 axis CNC) with my Father. Currently setting up a rotary phase converter & figuring out how to rewire the control cabinet for low voltage. Once I get it set up looking forward to learning G code and maybe turning out some AR15 lowers with it. Later on I'll try to figure out automating the 3rd axis and then if I am really ambitious the 4th.

We had a disagreement with Samsung on how to measure a fridge. Long story short, we're doing some minor kitchen remodeling. The above is my first test pour for replacing ~35 linear feet of formica with pre-cast concrete countertops. I poured this one as a top for a Singer sewing machine base I had.

Replaced a poorly insulated garden window with Pella replacement window in our spare room (once an office, now a SCUBA/sundry room-closet). Will eventually get a safe and ammo storage.

The "before" beyond awful garden window.

3 week wait to special order the new window. We had to remove the old one to make an accurate measurement. So plywood filler.....

I'm curious about this "disagreement". Did you do something foolish like expect them to use real units or measure dimensions that actually matter to someone?

Holy smokes - how'd you dig out all that concrete?? Did you backfill with concrete or did you leave it open??

Plus a tiny project for us.

Removing the shower sliding door in 1960's house. I did cheat and this is the similar door from the master bath.

After:

It is amazing how much bigger the bathroom looks without those stupid doors. We just need to recaulk then put up the shower curtain/rod.

why are you so against garden windows? ive got one over the sink in my kitchen im growing a bunch of stuff in and i dont think its terrible.
It was a crappy garden window. The room was freezing in the winter and super hot in the summer.

So we needed to buy a new window and we chose to replace it with one that matched all the others in the house.

I also think it was not properly insulated around the edges with the foam to fill the gaps in the brick when it was installed many years ago.

Their stated measurement should have fit...really tight but it was smaller than the room we had. But they didn't bother to mention the air circulation requirements on both sides of the fridge. The compressor is air cooled by an intake vent on the left and an exhaust vent on the right. You really need a minimum of four inches more than the stated width to operate the damn thing.

Also, their stated measurement didnt include the vent grate covers that stuck out from the side of the fridge. Their body measurement was spot on. But why not give a recommended space requirement measurement that reflects the additional >10% of the item's size that is actually required?

Haha with an air chisel, two days and a little assistance from a very hard worker who gets paid all in cash. And yes I came back and poured new concrete afterwards. 1800 lbs worth.

Been renovating a 15' extra wide jon boat the last few weeks. We where given a 25hp nissan motor that had been sitting for several years.

No pics of the boat right now, but it's been cleaned out, and here's the motor running after a carb rebuild, a new water pump, lower unit serviced, and a lot of grunt work fighting stuck bolts.

I redid the verticals, and rewired the trailer, it just needs new hubs, and the old motor mount holes sealed to be in the water and going

Current project: moving

Can't wait until I have a house.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
My latest project was to rebuild the formal living room, entry hall, kitchen and family room at our place. Maybe 1,200-1,300 sq ft total. Severe rot was found on all joists so I rebuilt all the way down to the crawlspace and greatly strengthened the house while I was at it. This was 100% DIY except for some help with removing a load bearing wall and took over a year to do. I also built the new front door by hand.

Formal living room: In this room I numbered and carefully removed the original long length red oak hardwood and was able to reinstall it exactly as it was. I wanted to salvage it because pieces are up to 12' long and it's clear grade.

Thanks, but not quite yet. I wanted to finish redoing our embarassingly-bad landscaping and take care of maintenance on our cars before jumping off into the next project since it'll take up all of my time.

We also may need to get a new main panel beforehand since what we have now is probably maxed out. Heated flooring and towel bars are in the plan. That'll taken an actual licensed electrician, not me.

I've done more since the second picture. right now, I'm removing the carpet glue in the cab. Slow, because the stuff I'm using needs a certain temp. And I don't want to use any heaters to get there.

And ... found rust pinholes in floor pans, so I'm having to take the time to fix that before lining the tub.

My 14 yo Son is helping me.

There are programs that create machine paths off of CAD drawings. Way easier than straight G-Code, that's what my highschool shop class did. Drawings in autodesk, import the file into the other program, the name of which escapes me, tell the program how you want the part milled out and then it creates the G-Code.

ETA: our mill also had an USB port to upload the code with, I'm not sure if you would be able to do the same.

Tore all the trim off the bedroom wing of the house because sanding it and priming it and painting it was a stupid idea:

Realized I still had to sand the interior door jams, swore loudly and multiply, and made dexter kill rooms to start sanding:

Decided that since house was already destroyed might as well yank out bathroom cabinets and sand/prime/paint them too:

Also tore out purple linoleum in tub area to eventually tile, replaced toilet and all hardware.

Not pictured: once sanding was cleaned up we painted every room prior to putting new trim up. New trim is now up, patched, and caulked and I will never touch the walls in any of the rooms in this house again.

Bonus, learned the dog to hate ducks as much as I do:
