Was a good first 3 months of the year for sure!

From the TurningPoint Galveston Drum Fishing Tournament last weekend...

No pics from my jetty excursion yesterday, but 2 reds (24 and 26 inch) boxed along with a personal best sheepshead (20 inches). Personal best Spanish Mackerel at 24 inches given away (only good if eaten right away). some undersized stuff thrown back.

Caught these 2 yesterday that weighed in at 12.3 lbs. Got a 1/2 lb bonus for bringing them in alive which bumped me up to 12.8 and got me 14th place out of 177 anglers in a kayak tourney. One was just over 25" the other just under.

Work and weather hasn't allowed me to properly participate in this thread. However, I did take the family out to Port Mansfield for dinner this evening and sat down to a plate of grilled fish 'South Texas' style - so maybe, partially, if not technically - 2015 fish.

Not a big fish, but a fun part of a fun weekend. Headed down to Southeast Kansas this weekend for a fellow Ag's birthday party. Nice little shrimp/crawfish boil, fun romps in the woods with the dogs, tried (unsuccessfully) to get some noobs a turkey, and watched it rain, and rain, and rain....

But the pond which was horribly low on Friday, was overflowing on Sunday. And this guy was doing his best to eat all of the food being washed into the pond! (while the pond-owner was doing his best - in the background - to clean out the overflow pipe!!)

I didn't catch a snook last week, despite dozens swimming under the dock.



I did land a nice pompano tho.

I'm almost completely self-taught as a caster, aside from watching a few videos and one class on getting my double-haul down, so I don't really subscribe to the 10 & 2 system.

I go on feel, timing, and watching the loop. In this case, I just want little man to get the feel for sort of flopping the line out there and starting to understand that whatever the rod tip does the line will follow.

BTW- those "over-processed" snook pics are pretty rad.
