I have a goatee and shave the rest of every weekday morning. About every other day I shave my head and nethers. I'm currently use a Mach 3 but if I can avoid spending the money on blades (4 for $16ish) then that's more money I can spend on ammo. Not shaving is not an option. Is there a package that includes the shave butter and blades?

yes, the 4 bladed option. To be honest it's not as comfortable and the blade doesn't clean out as easily as my old Gillette Mach 3. However, in defense of DSC the cost savings far outweighs any drawbacks. I was gifted a monthly subscription for a Christmas present and I'm currently sitting on a new 4 pack and a half, and that's shaving my head and face about twice weekly.

I've been using the Mach 3 for about the last decade, so any new razor was going to take some getting used to, and the DSC isn't bad at all. Especially for the price!

Yes. Not sure about the shave butter.

Executive package is what I use. Other blades are pretty weak.

to be a little more descriptive, since now I see your post with actual words, I think the DSC blades hold up fine against the Mach 3. The first shave isn't quite as smooth, but I'd say they hold the same quality edge longer than the M3. In my experience the M3 shave significantly deteriorated after 3-4 uses.

And I probably use the razor closer to 3x a week, whether it's for the head, face (minus a beard), or both

Just started last month. I signed up for every other month for $6. Razors are great forte price.

Safety razor, 100 blades for $15 and poraso shave crme, awesome shave and the blade quantity has lasted over three years. Poraso I buy every 6 months for $10, still cheaper than shave club.

I use a safety razor along with a badger hair brush and hypoallergenic shave soap in a mug.

For all I know, the safety razor I use may be the first one I ever shaved with. Also the one I used as an undergrad at A&M.

I buy mine straight from Dorco who makes the DSC razors. Even bigger savings and no recurring charges. Just buy as needed.

Safety razors are great with a nice cream applied by brush. But if you keep facial hair. I honestly like the DC more.

I just wet shave daily in the shower. Much easier to keep straight margins to my beard.

Buy a merkur and feather blades and be done with it.

Would anyone be nervous shaving their junk with a safety razor

Tried them all, Harrys has the best blades. Switched from Gillette to Harrys and get the same smooth results.

I buy DSC. It's cheap and easy. Like their shaving butter and post shaving lotion as well.

I can not get the safety razor to work under my nose.

Honestly, I've tried many of the other products. I get the best shave (every day) with the Fusion. The reviews I hear from the ones I haven't tried (Harrys) echo the ones I have tried. So, for now, I'm just going to pay the premium.

By the way -- I use a shave gel Remington King of Shaves that is the best applied shave product (fify protected; hopefully) I have ever used. I've shaved just about every day for over 30 years.

Brush, soap, and straight razor or safety razor. No more skin irritation and better results than I ever got with the fusion.

The dollar shave club razors are much better than the Mach III, imo. They've lasted much longer and even when they start to dull I don't get all kinds of ingrown hairs on my neck. I have soft curly hair and the Mach III for some reason does not perform as well as the $ shave club. Can't believe to took me this long to switch but I've been using them for 2 months and just started using my second razor.

Make the change.

I have been using DSC for about 6 months. I shave about twice a week and used disposable razors. The four blade razors were actually an upgrade for me at the same price.

I use it, the 4 blade.

I only shave 3-4 times a week, so it;s good for that.

I don't think the blade is as good as off the shelf stuff, but its good enough.

I used to think that a safety razor and double edged blades would save me money. Now I've realized that I traded what was once a hated chore into something of a hobby.

It's not a good formula for saving money.

I spend way more now than I ever did using Mach 3 cartridges.

FYI $ shave club gets their razors from Dorco.

Dorco USA is the website for them. It's not much cheaper (mens disposable 4 blade is $5.50/4 versus $ shave club $6/month.) but still cheaper, especially if you can find a coupon and/or buy their packages.

Here is my hangup

I have one group of people telling how cost effective a DE is and some folks saying it's cheaper to go the DSC route. I spend about $20 on four M3 blades. So if I were to buy a razor, blade sample pak, brush, bowl, and after shave I'd be spending about $120.

So now I'm tossing around getting the DSC executive blade and the clear shave butter, which makes sense to me because I do keep some facial hair, or going old school which carries some degree of nostalgic romance

Guess my thoughts are

1) man didn't shave
2) man wanted to shave so be used a sharp blade
3) man got tired of cutting his throat
4) man made safety razor
5) after some time man made the cartridge razor r

I don't even count electric razors as I find them useless
I guess im trying to find what will be te most cost and time effective shave

I use the DSC 4 blade and shave butter. its a good value, convenient with the automatic delivery, and a good quality shave.

I use a straight razor usually and a safety razor when really short on time or travelling. The reason I do though have to do with the elimination of ingrown hairs and skin irritation When I shaved with mach3 and fusion they were constantly getting clogged and caused bad irritation and ingrown hairs. On top of that I never got a good shave from them. Going DE can save money in the long run but you really have to be conscious of your spending with it. It is really easy to get in sample and acquisition mode.
One of the best side effects of going the vintage shave route that I did not expect at all so that I now enjoy my daily shave instead of dreading the chore

ETA there is a learning curve to going with DE razors. But it is not hard if approached with the knowledge that you kinda have to learn to shave again

I use whatever 4 or 5 blade razor I pick up (I can't remember the different brands and names) and some barbasol cream. I just don't understand guys that get into shaving. I see it as a necessary task and want it done asap. I'm not getting into all the crap...I want to be done in 3 minutes.

It seems pretty hipsterish/metrosexual to be lathering up with beavertail hair and messing around with a stupid straight razor.
