Ok, so just got off the phone with the guy that produces the baffles. Price on them is going to be around $250 or so when it's all said and done with and you have to pick up in store unless you want to order 5 or 6 (I'm not doing this as a money maker so trying to send 1 or 2 off is going to be annoying). If I can get at least 100 ordered (doubt that will happen) the price will drop down to $225. I'll be ordering a few for the store and will be pricing them at $300 or $325.

I'll have pics of it to put up sometime this week. This is being sold as a muzzle break. In fact, it's already threaded and there are two versions, a 7.62 and 5.56 version. It is made out of stainless so there are no worries about materials. The cool thing about this system is that realistically, all you need is the sleeve done and an end cap, because it already has the muzzle side mount to it.

How much it will cost to get the titanium sleeve built out, I have no idea. However, I'm hoping we can get the total price down to around $400 or $450. If anyone has a hookup on machining the sleeve, that would be most helpful.

Keep me in mind - probably for 3 of each caliber.

By the way, I have to prepay and it takes roughly two months to get these in as they make these in runs. I will personally order around 10, if need be, to make the numbers work. From what I've had email me and then hurricane.... We're at 25 already if I buy 10.

EyeGuy... Can you walk me through what else would be required to take the $400-450 total and end up with a legal, usable suppressor? Form 1, tax stamp, etc.? If it's not too much to write out, pretend I don't know anything... Thanks!

Short answer:

Two basic routes.

Fill out NFA Form 1 under your name and jump through the hoops of getting fingerprints, having it signed off on by your chief law enforcement officer, etc. Also, upon your death, things are a little more complicated for your estate.

Route 2... and the preferred route... Get a trust set up. It is a legal entity so it doesn't have fingerprints etc and you do not have to have the CLEO sign off on it. This is important in Houston because our Sheriff will not sign off on them.

After that, send in paper work and wait for the government to take your money. When they ok it, you can can get the sleeve built and assembled along with having a serial number engraved on the device.

Pretty simple and it takes about a month for the entire process right now. Form 1s are ok for e-file, unlike form 4.

How much does that 'brake' weigh? And of course photos. Does it have external threads for the sleeve?

The key on this is that the final assembly has to be done BY YOU. Someone can make individual parts, but you have to finish it up.

I THINK the front will have to be threaded by a machinist but I'm still getting info about this.

Interested for sure. Would need to learn a little bit more about the finishing process but for that price would be very interested.

I want to reiterate this point. In fact, if someone here wants to take the lead on the sleeve part, that would make my life a little easier in that the ATF can't look at me as building suppressors for people under a form 1.

Good picture of the muzzle and the sides of it.

Will I be able to put the 7.62 on to my 5.56 gun and shoot suppressed?

For some reason, I thought I read on here a while back in a thread that it was possible and the performance for the 5.56 was actually better out of the 7.62 can.

I could be making that up completely, but for some reason I thought I read that in another thread about cans.

What's the size on that thing?

I don't think performance would be better out of the 7.62 but many 7.62 suppressors work well with 5.56. Just heavier and larger.

I'm definitely interested for 2 depending on the process to install and my ability to get to Houston to pick up.

Here's how I'd like to do non houston orders... I don't mind making a shipment each to dallas, san anton, austin, etc but have one hub for everyone to pick up at.

Does the manufacturer have an opinion letter from the ATF? In the past, ATF has ruled suppressor parts are regulated the same as a suppressor and you can't own baffles without having a "registered" can for them.

From the picture this looks like a direct mount to your current barrel's threads. If this assumption is correct, this will not fit on both 5/8x24 and 1/2x28 without an adapter. one might be available to go from 1/2x28 to the larger size, but then you could run into fitment/timing issues that could lead to baffle strikes. This is one of the benefits of buying a commercial standard suppressor.

Yes, you can typically run a 7.62 can on any smaller caliber with reduced performance. Lots of youtube videos about that.

I might be mistaken, but when filing a form 1, you have to draw up schematics and have that approved along with the standard suppressor paperwork. Serial/identifying information has to be etched onto the suppressor body, so that will require some additional work.

cool project though!

From what eyeguy states (as well as the pic) this is sold as a multi-chambered muzzle break. Once you add the shroud, then it's a suppressor. Firing this without the shroud should be interesting and legal

Exactly. That's why the front isn't threaded. If this were illegal simply because it can be retrofitted to be a suppressor, so would all oil filters...

interested.

Question 1:

i assume it would be easy to have the 7.62 threaded to screw onto a standard ak-47 barrel?

Question 2:

so i can buy this unfinished item from you before doing any of the ATF requirements?

Thanks in advance.

Actually, there are some 7.62 suppressors that are quieter than the 5.56 versions. The Saker 7.62 is one for example.

I spoke with SDTA and they will have unfinished Titanium tubes in next week. What else do we need? I was thinking one Titanium end cap and a thread protector.

SDTA said that they would work with me on prices one we know the volume. I expect it to be $100-120 for the 3. I am located outside of Houston.

I would assume possessing a tube and this brake would be considered "intent to build". I am not a lawyer nor have I built a form 1 item before.ds

Can I send in a form 1 and payment now and then build my own from scratch once approved? Or do you have to order blanks from approved sources?
