Well, I got the FoxPro Spitfire in the mail on Friday. Going over to Academy or Bass Pro tomorrow to pick up the Black Jack Decoy. What do you guys recommend for a light? I'd prefer a smaller red lens flashlight that I can mount on my AR rail instead of a larger handheld light, just so that if I decide to go out by myself, then I'm not trying to hold a light and aim a gun at the same time. Tried that Saturday night and it was like trying to eat spaghetti with chop sticks. Had three coyotes at 50 yards and couldn't get everything lined up properly. I'm sure the yotes were laughing at me as they strolled off into the woods.

Got the Cyclops Varmint light from Cabelas for my father in law for Christmas. Was 79.99.

Works great and comes with rail mount or a scope mount. Find it on sale as the regular 139.99 seems steep.

+1. I have a couple of these and really like the quality.

It seems like there is a single factory (probably in China or India) making the same light for 3-4 different flashlight companies. These all appears to be pretty much the exact same thing. No?

Looks the same to me.

I was impressed how well they work. 200 yards at night no problem.

They are the same. And yes/no on manufacturer . In many cases, the Chinese are 10x worse at knocking each other off as they are us. There are two companies that make that light that I know of. I will probably start getting them next year or so. Just don't have the cash to do the minimums needed yet to get the price low.

I've got it in green and it lights up anything I want pretty good and far.

Check out Stalktech.com They are made here in San Antonio. Best hunting lights. Brightest, quality LED. His Laser designators are also great.

I was searching for this exact thread about a week ago. I have had my foxpro for about 3 years now and have typically used the standard red spotlight if I ever went calling at night. Just this past weekend I went and used a friends Elusive Wildlife XLR250 (green) and had luck bagging a bobcat. This of course got me interested in the different brands out there an I wanted to compare specs and see if anyone had any recommendations as well.

I see that Elusive Wildlife has a Dog and Hog package where you get 2 XLR250 both Red and Green for $219? Do you think there is really a need to have both color bulbs?

Does anyone know how the stalktech compares to the XLR250 in brightness, distance and battery life?

Got a Stalktech Laser Designator from my brother for Christmas this year - that thing is awesome. Haven't had a chance to hunt with it yet, but it'll fill the FOV on my scope and is scary bright.

I've always been told coyotes see green, and will spook from green lights. I've never run one for that reason, so no first hand experience.

Sounds like a good marketing strategy to get you to buy two lights. Why not get just one light with two different bulbs and switch them out as needed? Is it even necessary two have both color bulbs? Or can you just use red for everything?

I originally posted the incorrect price for the package deal. It is $219 for both a red and green XLR 250. I looked up the LED's alone to switch out and its $60 each.

So if you were to buy just 1 flashlight and then a LED separate your looking at $200. At that point the package deal seems like a better buy for not having to wast any time with the change out and misplacement of the extra LED.

I like a 3 million CP brinkman with a red lens.

I use red for everything. I'm told you can see further with green though, I guess for those that like long range night shooting...

Still seems like a bad deal when I can get the VRL-1 Hunting Kit for $149.99 which includes the white, green, and red bulbs. And both lights appear to be the exact same thing with just a different name on the side.

Or the VRL-1 Ultimate Kit which includes just the green and red bulbs for $124.99.

I use Nite Hunter lights, a guy in Mountain Home, TX makes them. They are really good lights with good battery life and range for the price. I have no problem catching eyes 250+ yards out.
Wicked Hunting lights are pretty similar to Nite Hunters.
The best predator light on the market is the Coyotelight hands down. But at $420, it's a little more than what most people want to spend.

I just picked up a Streamlight Game Spotter that is great. I can easily take a shot at 150+ yards with it.

I have the Wicked Lights: Predator Pursuit pack. Can positive ID a yote at 250 yds with green or white. Red is a little less bright, it's that way with every light. I use them for work all the time because they are extremely modular, swapping from different guns is super easy. I went with this brand because they were the only ones with an internal charger.

Good luck! Let us know what you end up with.

Love my Olight SR90 Intimidator with Luminus SST-90 LED 2200 Lumens, completely rechargeable and holds a charge for days, has a % of charge left gauge built in, max throw on the SR90 is 1000 yards. Nothing better on the market I have ever found.

I have an XLR250 and love it. I had read that some claimed the Wicked is slightly brighter but I cannot confirm that.

I just placed my order for the VRL-1 Ultimate Kit for $124.99 on Varmintlights.com
