Was your friend refunded? I assume he actually got a hold of SSC to cancel his order.

This whole thread makes me sad. If you get this busy then raise your prices and accept less jobs. I guess it's the danger of a small business. You're so afraid to turn away business that you over extend yourself and kill your business anyway through developing/earning a poor customer service reputation.

Once again, I just got off of the phone with SSC. He told me that my rifle should be ready by next week.
He also told me that he "bit off more than he could chew" and his planned helper bailed on him. I told that either way he needed to keep his clientele abreast of what was happening.

I'm a small business operator, and over loading yourself is something that happens, it's a lesson that has to be learned, but you must communicate with your customers at all times...even when you have to tell them something they don't want to hear. I'm afraid that SSC is learning that bad news gets around the world before good news gets out of the driveway. I hope that he does what he is supposed to do, learns a lesson, and is able to repair the damage this has done to his reputation.

In the supply industry, I use the old saying "deliver good news fast and bad news FASTER". Generally people are understanding and will be able to work around reasonable problems if they know about it.
