Just shot one and wanting to get a full body mount. Will it be alright to keep it in a trash bag in the freezer until I'm ready to take it to a taxidermist?

Bobcat Mount?

I put mine in an old T shirt then in a trash bag just kept the moisture off of it when it built up, but if you are just keeping it for couple weeks should not be an issue.

Mine was in a trash bag in the freezer for about a month before dropping it off. No harm done that I could tell.
And seriously look at the taxidermists portfolio when it comes to cats. Make sure you think they actually do a good job with them vs trusting them b/c they can do a nice deer mount.

yeah, I kept mine frozen for almost a year before I took it in, no harm done. I killed it right after I graduated from TAMU, so I was a lolpoor for just a little while.
Forgive the ignorant question but do you go ahead and gut them before you freeze or do you just throw them in the bag?

Throw them straight in the bag. Don't make any cuts that your taxidermist needs to fix later.

Wow. That is some bad taxidermy.
I just took mine to Courtney Shaheen at Double Nickel in New Braunfels. She took third in state last year with a double cat mount. She has some talent.

Had the same guy do me a yote the year before. I'm not much is a varmint hunter, so I'm not to sure but this one didn't look that great to me. He said he got a bunch of compliments while it was in his showroom waiting to be picked up.

I've got a grey fox in the freezer, been looking for ideas and the guy has this on his website. I was thinking of swapping the duck with a bobwhite. Let me know if you guys need his number he does all kinds of crazy stuff!

You may be all set in where you are taking it, but I would recommend Palermo's in Bryan. I had one done a while back and he did a simply amazing job. Also, I always wondered why so many bobcat mounts turn out so horrible.

A taxidermist friend of mine told me that the bobcat's mouth and eyes are the hardest thing in taxidermy to get correct. Which is why you see so many bad examples of bobcat mounts.
Strong advise is to have it done with the mouth closed.
Bobcat's don't "snarl" like you see on a lot of mounts and it tends to ruin them Worst offender I've ever seen is in the feed store in Goldthwaite, TX. I wish I had pic, but believe me, it's awful.

Sometimes it's because the taxidermist doesn't listen to what you want. My FIL took one in and told the guy two things he didn't want: no snarling & no hunched up back. He wanted it to look natural in a lying curled up position.
How it was returned: standing, back hunched, and snarling.
