How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone ever purchased something created in a prison metal shop? I've seen keychains, etc. that were created in prison metal shops but can't find any information on how to contact one to find out what they can and can't do.

TIA

I've had many of things given to me from a prison shop. Leather belts, buckles, wallets. My mom didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a my dad's wedding ring after he lost a couple, so she had em make him a ring. Them guys are a very talented bunch. I've also seen a lot of painted things such as steer heads.

Some of the nicest tooled leather I've ever seen was a ranger's prison made rig.

He said he didn't know if they sold it anymore though or just supplied officers

My mother in law had a really nice belt and buckle set made for me. Has my initials and "Gig Um Aggies" put on it. That's right...."Gig Um".

My buddy got a really nice saddle made when we were younger and another friend also got a really nice pair of spurs made not too long ago. Both from guys in Huntsville at the prison.

Not metal, but this is my favorite (and only) item I own that was crafted in a prison. I can't remember the poster on here who sold these but his brother was in Alabama prison for murder. The prisoner sold these for attorney fees. Pretty cool. Wish I could remember the whole story but the family was adamant he was wrongly convicted.

Jeff!!!! I cannot believe you don't remember moi!
Yes Donnie made these from cedar strips and hand painted them, no decals. Here are some others:

If you are interested in one, just PM me. They are in the $200 range and great Xmas gifts.

My brother-in-law (close as a brother) is serving life in prison for a crime he did not commit. The legal bills have been tremendous (several 6 figures) and continue. We continue to work for his release. Even a national TV show has contacted us about doing his story.
But this is how Donnie helps pay his way. His former in-laws took everything he had (even his daughter... for the social security benefits mostly) and the expenses have drained his sister and I. Aggies have been most gracious. His story can be seen here:

Crap BQ68, that stinks on ice. Even realizing the story is written from his point of view, there's plenty of reasonable doubt. Sounds like the DA and his original lawyer need a shotgun to the head.

BQ68,
So is it correct to assume that the victim was your sister?

I'd venture to say Donnie is his wife's brother.

I have several pieces from Texas prisons... brief cases, portfolios, desk sets, luggage, belts, buckles, office chairs, etc... quality and craftsmanship is second to none, IMO.

I also have several balls that I've gotten from BQ68. They are some of the greatest pieces I own and he is a class act person. They are excellent gifts, awards, conversation pieces, etc. The pictures do not do them justice. You will not be disappointed.

I've got an offset BBQ pit with an upright smoker that was made by a guy who used to work in the prison. I believe it was made there. It has jail cell bars as the handles.

I have one of the balls Donnie made in my study and everyone that sees it for the first time comments on it. The craftsmanship is extremely impressive.
