The home inspector didn't find it. Unless they paid 100% cash they would have had to hire an inspector for the mortgage

Nobody is perfect, but if a home inspector (someone who is trained to find problems in a home) cant find 6,000 spiders in a home then I don't see how you can hold the original home owner's accountable.

I have never heard of a home inspector reporting on pests in a home, only functionality and physical condition of the home.

This is my limited experience with both of my houses. They basically look at the most obvious of things - cracks in walls, foundation, etc., crawl up in the attic and look at much as possible at the decking for leaks, inspect the general condition of appliances and major equipment, do rudimentary electrical checks, etc. But no pest inspection, outside of what would be obvious structural damage from termites.

They don't check for mice, spiders, snakes, etc.

I always hired an insect inspection for the two times I've bought a house.

Really: if somebody gave me that house I wouldn't live in it. If the poison is strong enough to penetrate the walls and kill 4,000 brown recluse spiders, I don't want to sleep in that house. And if the poison is not strong enough to kill 4,000 brown recluse spiders, I don't want to sleep in that house.

Burn the sucker down and start over.

Great opportunity to examine insurance fraud here.

I was referring to arson + homeowner + carribean cruise..

Two gentlemen were on a beach in the Keys discussing their business ventures. The first offered that his successful business had been gutted by fire and that upon collecting the insurance he retired to South Fla. The second said his story was very similar, but that his business was destroyed in a flood and he too had retired on the insurance settlement. The first man pondered this a moment and finally asked....
