The Bobwhite is a solid great handling SxS. If you prefer single trigger, the Ringneck is equally solid. I like 'em both.

A few years back during a group dove hunt me and one other patron traded shotguns for the morning. He had a CZ Ringneck (single trigger) in 16 gauge.

Limited experience, but I came away very impressed with the gun. Maybe a tad heavy, but not to the point that it affected much. The only real thing i didnt like was the finish on the metal - it was a black teflon type coating in lieu of traditonal deep blue. I underatand the economics, but really would like to see a deep polished blue finish.

The finish on the barrels is black chrome. Much more durable than bluing but you're right, not as pretty.

I'll look more into the CZ

Price range is $1,000-$2,500

I have looked into the custom route at higher prices but I'm not ready to go there.

This will be a field gun for pretty much only dove

Need to look at DeHaan Shotguns, They are right in your wheel house for a custom gun at your price point

I finally put some real rounds through my CZ Ringneck yesterday and it handled pretty well. Overall it seems to present a pattern that is a little higher than what I am used to, but I adjusted pretty quickly.

All in all I was pretty pleased with it's first day in the field. This is my first SxS ever and it's definitely a little different looking over the top of one. No raised rib. It'll be a little more of a transition if I'm switching back and forth between guns over a multi-day trip (which I will do in short order at the end of this month), but doable I think.

That's what it was, couldn't remember to save my life.

It wasn't ugly, but it wasn't nearly as pretty as a good blue/brown job is either. I remember the owner raving about how tough the finish is though, which is probably 100% true. But it's just not the same. Only real negative I remember about the gun to be honest, and it's not all that negative.
