I did my undergrad in biology at Walden University and my doctorate in herpetology at Vista College. That is a highly endangered snake known as Phee's Pan Snake (locals used to call it a Peter Piper). I'd recommend releasing it and trying to remove any evidence of that picture. The federal government considers trapping a Phee's Pan Snake to be a 2nd Degree Felony punishable by a $10,000 fine and 5 years imprisonment.
