I'm looking at various over and unders for duck hunting and a Franchi has caught my eye.

But there's more to a gun than good looks...

Anyone have any experience with the Franchi Instinct SL Over and Under?

I own an older Franchi (1993ish) and it has performed flawlessly for me.

I have a franchi veloce in 20. Great gun, excellent fit/finish, never failed to fire, and patterned perfectly

Nice gun. If you like it, do it. No hesitation.

If you like it, get it.

Life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun.

Gun safety is no accident

I got a Franchi Vercise and my sporting clay score went up 20 birds with no practice. I got both 12 and 20 barrels and it is absolutely the sweetest shotgun I've owned

Are you sure you want an O/U for duck hunting? Often it is too cramped in a blind. Nice to have that third shot too.

Got this little Franchi SPAS pump/semi auto tactical in 12 gauge:

I've had a Franchi Alcione since 2004. I've probably shot 50-60,000 shells through it. The only thing I've had to replace was the ejector on the bottom barrel that broke during a clays tournament.

If the gun fits you well I wouldn't hesitate to get one. I'm obviously happy with mine and I've received many compliments on the overall look of the gun as well.

I view Franchi as value for your money. I picked up the Instinct L and have loved it. There are minor blemishes and the craftsmanship is not quite up to a Browning or Beretta high end gun standard. That is how you get a fine gun for $1,100 though.

They look nice, point great, are reliable, and have a seven year warranty.

Cool looking pump gun. Franchi has had a military contract for the SPAS-12 for some time now. Your model looks similar.

Also curious why an o/u to duck hunt?

Good question.

I'm too damn tough on my duck guns to use a nice wooden stock O/U. My Benelli M2 has been through the ringer in the past few seasons. Plus, that 3rd shot of a semi or pump comes in handy for crippled greenheads.

Now, I will probably be getting a nice o/u soon for quail/dove.

If the OP is hard set on picking up a Franchi for Duck hunting, the Affinity seems like a better model.

the reviews are more positive for that model than for any other Franchi product I have seen out there. He can also get the synthetic finish and/or camo if needed.

If I were hell-bent on an O/U for ducks, I'd consider the Cynergy in camo with the kick-off type system. That Franchi is gonna hurt like hell with 3" magnum duck loads.
