Can't believe they are so close. Didn't they ever watch the A-Team? You can make a rocket with one of those tanks!

Great Icebreaker video for a HAZMAT Class demonstrating the dangers of insecure high pressure cylinders in a highway accident. This was an accident that occurred in Russia. Russians have dashcams in order to provide additional evidence in court due to guard against police corruption and insurance fraud.

Maybe they should go to some self-help seminars?

Didn't some sort of bottle gas facilty catch fire near Stemmons, across from American Airlines Center and send bottles flying through the air during rush hour a few years ago?

Yes Fido. That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw this.

Here is a clip. Hard to believe it was 7 years ago already.

I owned a SCUBA shop for a while when I lived in Seattle. I never liked having to run the fill station - you're basically creating bombs. It was especially nerve-wracking filling oxygen bottles for deco. Air was bad enough, but pure oxygen is freaky.

It was also unsettling when I'd teach a class and load up 20 tanks in the back of my pickup. At that point you are just a solid rear-end collision from saying hi to Jesus in person.

High pressure bottles are not to be screwed with.

I like how the badass cop drives up to the fire, then one tank explodes and shoots off near him. The guy probably thought, "**** this ****!" He backs up immediately!

I need to buy a dashcam. You never know what kind of stuff you'll see driving around town...

You know why Cops have stripes on their trousers? So the Fire Dept knows if its safe to go near the fire. Stripes are vertical, it's safe. Stripes are horizontal, stay back and conduct air quality monitoring.

I used to have to help unload the hydrogen cylinders when I was at an upper air site. I never enjoyed messing with the tanks and always wondered why we didn't use helium instead. I finally asked someone and was told that it's because helium is more expensive than new employees, haha.

Helium is used a lot in technical (deep or extended) scuba diving. It is fantastically expensive, and not a few people believe we will eventually run out. But you couldn't pay me to drive around town with high pressure hydrogen cylinders in the back of my pickup. No sir.
