Ran across this thread and have found rare inspiration. Beautiful job on your fire pit landscaping addition!
We've lived in our house for 10 years and inherited a ~20' diameter reinforced concrete ring that we're told used to be a rose garden. Now it's half full shade, half full sun & pretty much worthless to grow anything decorative for landscaping purposes. We don't want to grow herbs or any food crops, so a fire pit would be perfect.
My question to the OB is regarding some branches that overhang the middle of the circle where the fire pit would be centered. How high would tree branches have to be so that they wouldn't get damaged from the rising heat? The lowest hanging branches are about 12' - 15' and then the next level are well above that (pecan and Bradford pear). Would trimming the lowest branches be adequate or would I need to clear out any branches between pit & infinity?
Also, what would be the largest practical sized fire pit for a circle this size (~20')?
Thanks in advance
