Here is what I found on the Cabela's website:

http://www.cabelas.com/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=ReturnsPolicy

quote:
National brand optics, electronics, and gasoline-engine powered items may be returned within 60 days of purchase with the original sales receipt. The item must be returned in its' original packaging and with all accompanying manuals and accessories .After 60 days these items must be returned to the manufacturer. All manufacturer warranties are in effect.

Optics include: Binoculars, scopes, spotting scopes, rangefinders, sights, and sunglasses.

From that I get:
- 60 days to return
- Must be returned with original packaging

What I can't decipher: Does the product have to be unused? I'm wanting to purchase 3 or 4 different pairs of binoculars and use them over the weekend at the deer ranch. Spend time in different light and glassing scenarios to decide what I want.

I'd like to buy different pairs, use them all (not abuse, keep in like new condition and all the packaging), then return the ones I don't want.

Is this going to fly with stated return policy?

It doesn't say it has to be unopened. How will they know they've been used if you don't get them dirty or rough them up?

I bought a spotting scope and used it for a few weeks. I didn't care for it and took it back and didn't have a problem returning them. I wouldn't think you would have a problem unless they don't look new.

Bino review? Of course! I'm heading back to the mountains this fall for another DIY elk hunt, and I'm looking for a do it all bino. Current plan is to pick up the following:

EL Swarovision 8x32
Cabelas Euro (Meopta) 8x32
Leica HD 8x32

I currently use a 10x42 bin, but I'm interested it seeing if high quality 8's with the 32 do it for me.

They are lighter weight and larger FOV. No doubt a 42 or 50 objective will take me a little later, but how much? All the stuff I've read says an alpha 8x32 is a phenomenal little package and in no way leaves you "under gunned" for magnification or low light needs. Interested to see how the Cabelas Euros stack next to the others. Heard great things about those for the price.

Bino review coming by end of this month.

Be interested to see the review. I'm a 10x42 guy myself but I've never owned a pair of high quality 8x32s.

I will say the 10x was very nice picking out bedded mule deer from a mile away, but I would assume hunting elk is a much different game than picking out bedded muleys.

I've always been a 10x guy as well. But that was just a little too much magnification in the elk woods. Wasn't hunting the huge open range meadows you see on the shows. This is a timber hunt.

Sean - still working on shooting you an e-mail on Pronghorn/archery. Got busy with holidays and hunting.

The holidays is not a valid excuse, but hunting is more than valid, so it makes up for any holiday faux pas.

My busy time at work is about to start, so I'll be gladly looking for non-work distractions.
