Just picked up a pair of these http://www.doublehboots.com/Product?stockNo=DH3560 to replace my 11 year old Tony Lama boots that finally need to be retired. They aren't my "dress boots", but my wear everyday to work boots.

Anybody had any good or bad look with Double H Boots? This is my first pair. They ran about $215 and seemed pretty comfy in the store. Seem to bridge the gap between true work boots and dress boots.

I've looked at these, but never bought a pair. I too would be interested in any reviews/comments on them from anyone who's owned them.

Heels got wet, expanded/contracted, and fell off. Just like any other boot with a built up heel. If you work where your feet get muddy or even wet from walking in grass, then get a one-piece rubber sole.

BF likes them a lot.

I've had mine for about 4 or 5 years. Wear them pretty much every Friday to work and on the weekends. They've held up well and are comfortable. Mine are probably due for a good cleaning...

The only thing I've noticed is that on my pair the heel leather has worn a little differently than the toe leather. You can kinda see the difference in color in this photo. Maybe it goes back to my point about needing to clean them up.

Long story short, If I lost these boots today I would buy another pair tomorrow.

My experience was terrible. The structure in the heel fell apart within 6 months. And like stated above, the sole on the heel fell off around 9 months. I wore mine everyday (outdoors, in the mud when it's wet) and they didn't make it a year before the completely fell apart. Perhaps I used them in an application they weren't designed for, but if you got them to be work boots, they won't last. I will never buy another pair.

I had the exact boots in that link.

Your pants cover the heel portion and protect it somewhat to the elements. Your toe takes the brunt of abuse since it is always exposed. That is why the leathers weather differently. If you did not have any part of the boot covered, the leather would weather the same, and vice versa. All boots would do this if treated the same, just part of it. Knock them with oil and they're back to new.

Have had a pair just like the above pics for 4-5 yrs. Very comfortable and I've had good luck with them. Wear them to feed cows and horses etc. Never clean them other than with a water hose if they're really muddy and they are still in decent shape. Would buy again.

Have 2 pairs.

First pair I have had for three years and the other day the heel came off. Some super glue to hold it on until could get home and put a couple of nails back in it and they were are still trucking for my office boots.

Other pair I have had for a year and a half. They have seen miles of pasture and cattle work and hold up great. I put lots of mink oil on them at first to make them more water resitant and now all I have to do it rinse them off and wipe them them down and I could wear them anywhere.

Highly recommend them.

I have a pair as my every day boots.

The only complaint I have is that the insoles could be better, and will likely be a pain to remove when it is time to replace them.

Other than that, comfortable, wear well, look more like a dress than work boot, andeven the repair done by my local cobbler (wife's lab ate one half of an upper) has been durable.

Good boots - would reccommend to anybody.

Have had good luck with them. Have a pair of steel toes, and a pair of non.

The steel toes are like brand new, and have taken a LONG time to break in.
The others I wore every single day out in the mud and rain and heat for about 4 years. They are still very comfortable, just not that great of shape since I didn't maintain them like I should have.

I've had a pair for five years that I wore daily for a couple of years and although I really like them, I have two complaints...
1) the heal started breaking down after six months and breaking apart; doesn't affect much except for the occasional chunk of plastic in the boot for about a year.
2) the pillow footbed feels nice at first then quickly flattens, they're glued to the sole and are a PITA to remove when you want to put an insole in them.
Those two complaints are a major concern and I would not buy that same boot again unless those areas were improved upon...but, I will say its one of the most comfortable boots I've ever owned, the leather still looks great (when cleaned) and the sole has lasted a lot longer than I would have thought. Its a great boot, but has room to improve.

I've had a pair for the past 3 years. They see construction sites every day. The sole is amazing in terms of durability. The boots are comfortable. I've had a cobbler re-heel the boots ($25) once and I need to have that done again. I bought a new pair last week. I still carry my old pair in my toolbox to visit muddy jobsites so I won't nasty up my new pair so quickly.

Prior to these, I would go through a new pair of Ariats each year. I like the comfort of Ariat over the Double H, but the durability of the Double H has won me over, and that is all I wear for work now.

Have a pair with rubber soles (might be all they make - I honestly don't know)

Wish the heels (probably between a riding heel and a walking heel) weren't quite as tall as they are

My dad bought a pair of double h's out of a mail order catalog that I commandeered over a decade ago. They were more comfortable than cross trainers.

I wore those out and bought a pair just like the linked ones in the op. That was over two years ago. It took over a month of everyday wear to break them in but now they are the most comfortable shoes I own, of any kind. The heals are separating but they are still together. That is my only complaint. I was working in a ditch in standing water for 2 days a couple weeks ago. I had just re mink oiled them and my feet were dry and comfortable all day. I know I'll probably have to have them re healed eventually but I am a rough as anyone I know in my boots.

I have a pair. Lightly worn for several years now. Very comfortable. Are they all American made?
