My main question is their sizing compared to other boots. Do they tend to run large or small?

Also, how do they compare to other hiking boots you've worn?

thanks

I love them. I wear a 13, and they fit me true to size.

Check out Sierra Trading Post. Insanely good deals on them.

I have a pair and wear them a lot. Love them. Haven't owned another brand, so I can't compare. I bought mine at REI, where they let me climb around on their fake boulder in-store before committing. Size seems true. I would buy them again. If I couldn't try them on in person, I'd buy from zappos for easy returns (or at least look at their reviews), but Sierra Trading Post is a good idea, too.

Did they fit snug at first and then stretch out as they broke in? Some boots stretch a lot. I'm tempted to get a pair one half size larger in order to wear heavier wool socks. If Asolos stretc much, then maybe I don't need the larger boot.
They'll be used for hunting up here in the mountains in late fall. Plus, I have a good chance of going on an Alaskan moose hunt next fall so I'm starting to gear up.

Pretty much true to size for me too. Haven't noticed a lot of stretching. I will say they are MUCH stiffer than anything my flatlander self is used to. Which was good because I use them in the mountains. Not to tempt fate, but I don't think you can roll your ankle in my boots. I think your leg would snap above the boot before your ankle would twist.

I started a thread on my own asolos not that long ago.

Mine shrunk and no longer fit after getting wet. Didn't bother to try and stretch them out when the soles had dry rot and fell apart. And apparently this dry rot of soles is not uncommon. I didn't use the boots very much, they didn't wear out from use. They wore out due to time.

So my thought is that if you want a boot that's going to last for 10 years, no. If you are going to wear them a lot and expect them to be worn out within 4 years, maybe go ahead.

I plan on buying a pair off Sierra trading post on Friday. They are having a 45% off and .99 cents shipping on select items. If that applies to the boots I want then I am picking up a pair. I have heard really good things.

Narrow in my experience.

I had a pair of fsn 95 boots that were great for a couple of years. The soles blew out soon after that. Seems to be a common occurrence with Asolo.
