I'm guessing the average would be around a 230-240, but I have no idea.

I am well below average in case you are prepared to brag...

No no no. I was just curious.

I based that range off of the scores I saw last Thursday when I took mine. The instructor said that the group did very well. It looked like the average in the group was somewhere in that range. I didn't know if the instructor was just saying nice things or if it was true.

I'd say it's probably lower. Plenty of shooters turn in perfect targets our near perfect with a stay flier or two. However plenty also absolutely suck.

I know i got a perfect score. My instructor told me i could stop any time after he saw that I made the passing score since he just counted pass or fail.

295, I pulled one on the last mag.

That's awesome! I shot perfect or near perfect during practice. On the real thing I didn't do as well though. All the guns being fired at once threw me off.

Don't even have a cool what I scored. The instructors simply said if you passed, and pretty well refused to tell you your score. I was fine with it.

The max score in my class was 250. Oh, I pulled one for a 248...

I saw several folks score sub 190 and some get very close to the 175.

I think that it should be much tougher say 200 of the 250.

We had a lady that pulled her 380 out of her purse and it was so gunked up with makup and purse crap that it wouldn't even function more than a round or two before jamming. Instructor spent 10 minutes cleaning and lubing it before it would work.

I shot a 235 and wanted to commit Seppuku. I'll blame it on the fact that I used my my SIG which I hadn't shot as much.

248/250 for me. My brother shot 246/250 and my friend shot 244/250.
On that note, Im due for a renewal.

I think anyone who shoots on a regular basis and has decent trigger control should be able to score 247 or better (being generous). It's VERY close range and you have more than enough time.

When I did my last renewal there were two women in my class who I taught to shoot just a few weeks before the class. They both scored 239 and it was only their 3rd time to shoot.

They generally fall into two cohorts, 240 or better and 200-220.

I shot a 246 on my renueal, but I shot it weak hand only...

The guy next to me looked like he stood back at 50 yards and shot his target with a shotgun. I should mention that he was using a walker and had his bullets in a nail pouch. He still managed to pass the test, but that got me a little nervous. I don't consider myself very good and you couldn't count my holes. It was just a big hole about the size of a baseball. The instructor said, "Looks good enough to me". I was happy.

Yeah, my instructor was one of those that went out of their way to make sure you didn't know your score or walk off with your target. General idea being it was in your best interest to be able to simply say you passed if God forbid you ever had to go to court, and not have a specific score. I've seen it sedated here a couple times, made sense at the time, and frankly, doesn't really bother me since I passed.

Granted, so did the guy that me or my shooting partner had to twice tell him to turn his magazine around. And two ladies that literally were pulling a trigger for the first time. They actually did really well after the first round.

Our instructor told us the same thing. Told us our scores, but warned, should we ever be asked, simply say that we 'passed'. He said they could actually use your score to show that you are an 'expert' and use that against you. I have no idea how true that is, but that just boggles my mind. Hell, damn near everything boggles my mind these days.

I took my wife out this weekend to shoot a handgun for the first time. Per a rec on this board, I had her shoot a .22 auto and kill a bunch of cactus first. Then shoot 3 rounds at each test distance. Then shoot the LCR about 10 times at some cactus. I marked of 3, 7 and 15 yards and had her shoot the LCR 3 rounds at each station. She did amazing for her first time. We had to get some gloves to protect her joints since she has advanced rheumatoid arthritis before we shot much more. I am confident she will score high. I shot my 9mm for the first time at a target and did very well. I think we are ready!

I read on one of the instructor's sites that if you can't score 90%, you should seek training.

No clue what my score was, as our instructor just said pass/fail for the reasons already mentioned in this thread (if you go to court they can't use your score against you).

One guy in our class had never held a firearm in his life. Several of his shots were hitting the targets to his left and right. He ended up getting passed after several attempts. Kind of scary.

246 for me I believe. Pulled 2 of the last 3 low and to the left at 15 yards.

The lowest in my class was 210 by one lady that I'm pretty sure had only shot once or twice before and another guy who had to get our instructor to show him how to operate the pistol he borrowed from a friend just before we shot.

I believe our class's average was in the 230's.

Has anyone's positive shooting ability actually been used against them in a trial/arrest? Sounds like a wivestail to make bad shots feel better.

Can't say it is the best course of conduct- but a friend of mine with mild astigmatism shot the qualifying without his contacts in. Had a credible witness to this document it the day of. Scored near perfect. His dl is "with corrective lenses." He does not always wear his glasses or contacts. His theory was that if he ever had to use his pistol w/o having his contacts or glasses on (3am at home type situation)- a prosecutor could not allege irresponsibility for shooting without his corrective lenses in.

Just a thought.

And, it's scary to see some of the "passing" score shooters.

Please get same range time in bf you cc.
