Normal cotton crews int he winter (wife bought a package of v-necks, which I despise, so I need to get some more before the cooler weather comes in about 4 months from now).

I honestly don't see how anybody here can wear an undershirt during the summer months. Even if it is one of those dry fit jobs, just knowing that I have an extra layer on would be psycological torture for me. That and I simply cannot stand the shirts that are designed to act like shrink-wrap.

I was getting the "mysterious" snags on my shirts as well. Ended up being a small nick on the clothes dryer drum. I sanded it smooth and touched up with some enamel and the snags stopped occurring. Might check there.

what's with all of you 'V-neck' guys? I thought those were for old men. As for me, it's a ribbed wifebeater. JK, I wear those haines ones with the round collar (like MJ).

Fruit of the Loom A-shirts (Aka - Wife beater)
In West Texas I rarely sweat in my armpits. Sweat is too busy evaporating. I can hardly sleep without an A-shirt on now.

In Katy I could sweat through anything and commonly did.

Used to wear White full T round necks, then switched to V-necks, then A-shirts. Haven't looked back at least in Midland climate.

Duluth Buck Naked Crew or Ex Officio Give-N-Go tee. They're basically the same thing, but the Duluth version is a bit larger for the same size. Depending on sales one or the other version might be cheaper. I wear these undershirts nearly every day and the boxer briefs part of the time.

Not cheap, but great stuff: light weight, wicking, and cool. When you travel you can wash it in the hotel sink or shower then roll it up in a towel and walk on it to wring it out. Hang it up and it dries overnight.

Academy, their house brand equivalent of UnderArmor or whatever compression type shirts. $10 each, come in every color you think of, but I stock up on whites.

V-necks dont show themselves under collered shirts.

I wear the regular v neck Thompson Tees under my button down dress shirt every day. Not hot at all. They aren't cheap ($20) by any means but well worth it for me.

I bought one to start, wore it twice and ordered five more.
