I'm sure y'all have seen the endless TV ads for the hose that expands and contracts. Looks great so we tried em. For a time we loved em but.... after about 2-3 months of use every one of them burst. Bought them at different places at different times, not even sure that they were all the same brand name but all 5 of them burst. I had them at both Houston and our CS property and just put em thru normal use.
Of course I never kept receipts, who the hell keeps receipts for that kinda stuff for months.
Anybody else had any experience?

How long was your pocket hose turned on during any given use? I've heard that 4hrs is the cut off point for normal use.

Same here and my neighbor as well.

That's the biggest complaint about my pocket hose. Get it ready to do some work, and it prematurely bursts, ruining the job. Then it takes a while before you can start again, and by then, they usually have finished the job themselves.

My complaint is that it's so small....until it gets turned on, then it gets really big.

And don't forget that if your pocket hose is exposed to a lot of sunlight Flex Seal bright will also provide extra UV protection.

In addition to the bursting problem, which a friend experienced....I bought my first one to take to my son's house to fill a pot for a crawfish boil. He's a student renter and has no tools etc,,, Opened the package and there's a warning that you shouldn't drink the water that comes from the hose.

Another problem is when your pocket hose bursts there is no way to patch it.

HEH...I was reading this thread...and the pocket hose commercial came on tv...

I have one, purchased at Walgreens. Great concept, but the connectors are my problem. I have never had any problem with the hose itself leaking, just at both ends of the connectors.

That is a standard warning on every water hose, as technically water from a water faucet is no longer classified as potable water once it enters the water hose. Don't put much stock into those types of warnings - they are lawyer driven.

My grandfather has the X-hose brand (blue one, I think) and has been happy with it, but he hasn't had it all that long and it only gets occasional use.

Al Borland must've fallen on some hard times since Tool Time was cancelled. Wonder how Heidi is these days.
