My son inherited an old A.H. Fox 16ga double barrel. The gun is in great shape, but the leather case is falling to pieces. Since the gun breaks down, the case is the length of the barrel.

Anyone know of a similar after-market cases?

For $100ish more, there is also this option.

Hoyt or boyt makes some great breakdown cases.

Schmellba - thanks for post. I've seen those rectangular style cases before, and it appears some of the more expensive Fox and Browning guns came in that style. GunBroker has a few Fox shotguns in that style of case.

The field grade Sterlingworth came in a different style. It is tapered with the butt fitting in the large end and the barrel extending into the narrow end. The wood cleaning rods fit in between in some felt sleeves. The case opened and closed with a "leather cap" that fit over the large end and had straps and basic buckles.

I did a search based on OFN's suggestion of Boyt, and it came up with this that is the closest thing I've seen on the shape.

While the old one was smooth, this might work.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You don't have to get a hard case.

You're talking about a Leg O'Mutton case like this one...

A beautiful shotgun like your A. H. Fox deserves a rectangular hard case though. The Leg O'Mutton's are traditional and nice and all but they're not all that protective. Invest in a nice breakdown hard case for it. Good ones can be had for $100-$150 from the same folks I linked above.
