I've got that app and it is great but we kept the iPhone and iPad locked up for the most part.

Appreciate the pointers - we were out with a church group which is why the campsite was so crowded.

The biggest challenges I experienced:
- keeping the kids occupied while I put up and took down the tent.
- Dealing with "I need to go potttttttty!" from two little girls - all the time.
- The 40+ degree swing in weather we had on Saturday.
- I think they are too young to have much interest in fishing and keeping an eye on them trying to swing a pole with a fishing hook on the end of it meant having my head on a swivel non-stop.

I've been going with the Lake Houston YMCA Adventure Princesses for 2 years. Just went to Stephen F. Austin this weekend. Somerville before that. You should join a local tribe!

Looks like you guys had a great time. We'll be going camping as a family for the first time in a couple weeks. Wish me luck with my 3 and 4 year old girls. Will be getting/doing some of the recommendations posted here.

Congratulations on your entry into the brotherhood of "Dads Who Camp with Daughters". Looks like you guys had a really great time. Believe it or not, it just keeps getting better.

I started camping with mine when they were still learning to walk, nearly 25 years ago. We spent a week last year bicycle camping the Oregon Coast.

Camping is an investment in your kids that will pay dividends for life! It is definitely time well spent.
