I like my double h boys and they do Ok with quick submersion. Is walking through wet grass that soaks through. What can I do?

Obenauf's. I can't remember how to spell it. They make a boot oil for preserving leather and a paste for waterproofing boots. It's similar to sno-seal. The stuff smells like honey and your dogs will lick it right off your boots if you let 'em. It's good stuff and works well in the cold, wet snows we get.

I use Kiwi Mink Oil and it works great.

+1 for mink oil. This is what I've always used. A good heavy coating on the leather, and work some into the stitching that attaches your soles to the leather as well. I've done everything with mine and never had my boots soak through. Mud/rain at the ranch, pheasant hunting in the panhandle with snow on the ground, hell even tromping through snow at the base of the mountain before putting my ski boots and skis on to hop on the lift. It will wear off after a while though, so reapply once or twice a year or so.

I've never tried it, but this stuff (and products like it) seems to be the shizzle

My fil just sent me an email forward with something like that. That's actually what made me think about finally waterproofing the boots.

Put a good layer on the boots and stitching. Put in front of fireplace/heat source to open the pores of the leather. Put two layers and you are golden.

I don't see leather on the data sheet, but I can sure as hell testify to the fact this stuff will not come off your work boots!

Buy red wings, my pecos 4470s are 7 years old and still don't leak, I have about 8500 hours on them.

Mink Oil here but remember that when you seal them, they don't breath.
