I lieu of building my own database/program, I am looking for a herd management software that allows for multiple breeds, multiple locations, movement between locations, etc. I will also need the ability to add data fields as necessary.

I am dealing with ~2,000 head (and growing), so Excel just isn't cutting it anymore.

Does anyone have personal experience with CattleMax, CattleSoft, etc. and know that they are user friendly, efficient, and can accomplish what I'm looking for?

It's not free, but still reasonably priced.

This is a high-value herd, so price isn't that big of an issue though.

Have a buddy that uses implants to record everything. If I remember correctly you scan and then the screen pops up with all past information. From there you can edit whatever fields you'd like. I will call him and ask him the program name

You would be hard pressed to find a more satisfied customer base than cattlemax users.

+1 for Cattlemax. I use the online version only and have access in my iPad, iPhone, and computer. Great program. They offer a free trial, so try it out

We never made the switch due to logistics on our end. Seems like a solid program though.
