How long do you want to ignore this user?
A buddy of mine (fellow Ag) is looking for ideas for a bachelor party and he is mainly interested in fishing off the coast. I think he is thinking more Galveston, but I told him Port O'Connor and Matagorda may be better "fishing" options. I don't think he wants to do deep sea or anything, but most likely something chartered. We're looking at early June for the date and most likely would be just looking to fish all day Saturday, and maybe a half day or so on Sunday.

I am not a fisherman and I am not too familiar with the area down there, but I know there is a lot of guys on here that do. Do any of y'all have any recommendations for things we should look into? Best location? Charter recommendations? Nearby watering holes that are fun to booze at? Etc. Any recommendations or past experiences would be great.

We both literally have no information on this area so any sort of help would be much appreciated.

TIA

The strand is fun. Brews Bros is a good craft beer & cigar bar.

Bay Flats Lodge for inshore fishing and 5 star lodging and meals (for the gulf coast), but they are busy, so be sure to book it ASAP. This lodge is by far the best for a bachelor party.

We're doing a trip in April for a buddy, rented a house in Rockport through Miss Kity's Fishing Rentals and we're going with a few guides from Offshore Adventures. I would have rather booked with a guide directly, but the two I was interested in were already booked and I've never had a bad trip through OA.

I'm in a similar boat (no pun intended), we are hoping for a day of fishing and a day of golf with drinking mixed inbetween, that pretty much confines us to padre, port aransas (depending on the golf), Galveston, and possibly gulf shores/Pensacola if we wanted to leave TX.

Right now we are leaning Galveston due cost, proximity, decent fishing, decent bars, and a wider range of golf courses on the mainland. The fishing might be better elsewhere but we will be too drunk to really care.

group of my friends had a bachelor house out on Bolivar. Shark fished at night and caught a bunch. Had a hell of a time.

Bassil, you have anymore details about that? That sounds pretty sweet. Did they just fish from their house or did they have a guide/charter?

There is a Cpt West that is pretty popular out of Bolivar as well if you want to fish east bay, but if you have a boat just hit the south shoreline at first light and then Hannah's reef when it gets hot. Can do the south shore in kayaks. East Bay is pretty good in the summer.

fish the am and get a house on the gulf so you can hang out on Crystal Beach in the pm with some beer for some people/skank watching or interaction if you so choose. If you're looking for strip clubs then hit Whispers on the strand or take it to Dimitri City Limits on the mainland.

Can also do in Port A and POC, but POC you trade the beach for canals unless you have a boat to get to Sunday.

maybe you'll get lucky with a light north wind and can wade the gulf for those surf trout.

Go east! Lake Calcasieu. Spend a night or two at L'auberge Casino in Lake Charles. You can even have guides pick you up from the resort dock. Or just get a guide and drive down to fish with them. And casino/resort has nice swimming pool, swim up bar, etc. for the bachelor party fun.
