I am thinking about getting one of these for Christmas. Do any of you guys have experiences with this brand? I hear they are very good and reliable. TIA.

One of our repeat clients at the ranch has two of them; a .243 & a .270. They both shoot great, unless he is shooting them.

They are some of the better production rifles on the market. Well built, and have a reputation for being extremely accurate out of the box.

Spend some time and find you a pre-garcia finn bear or forester deluxe sako. Some of the best shooting prettiest guns ever made hands down-

my dad gave me his Sako Forester in .308. Pretty gun that shoots well.

A7 Tecomate is a thing of beauty! Only downside are caliber limitations (270WSM or 300WSM)

I have a finnlight in 6.5x55. BEst shooting gun I own. Sako will be first choice in future purchases.

I have an older (early 70's) L61R and per my great-uncles that once upon a time built rifles, the L61R is one of the finest bolt designs ever. My L61R action Finnbear is a nail driver. I had a dealer tell me that the older Sakos (pre-Beretta) are better than the new ones (this was about 6 years ago). If you go to Cabelas Gun Room or even Guns America you can still find the old Finnbears. Look for the ones most label "pre-Garcia".

Good luck, hope you find one you like.

Could have just said, what Moose03 said. Mine is a L61R Finnbear Deluxe in .264 WIN Mag. On second thought, they're junk especially if you find one in .338 WIN. Don't buy it, but post it on here so everyone knows not to buy it .

I've got a 1943 M39 Sako built on a 1901 Russian receiver. Shoots like a dream...

A Winchester 70 or Rem 700 CDL will shoot just as well and for less. Check out Kimber too.

FIFY. Sakos shoot. Much more of a crap shoot with a Remmy since Cerberus took over. I own an older mountain rifle but I would not buy a new 700. But you're right, I'd run a Kimber out of those 4 mentioned.

Wife's granddad gave BIL a very lightly used Forester 308 about five years ago. BIL's dad brainwashed him so much into thinking the 280 is the holy grail of deer cartridges (coupled with "the 308 arcs to deer" or "you have to lob that 308 in there") that BIL hardly ever uses the Forester. It's a shame too. I'd love to have that rifle and actually use it.

Sako makes some of best shooting rifles on the market with some of smoothest actions you will find.
Bought a heavy barrel Sako in 243 around 63 or 64. spent a lot of time punching holes in targets with a lot of different powder and bullet combinations. if a 5 shot group, measured more than 3/4", edge to edge, at 100yds I just went on to something else. still have the rifle and it still shoots great. At least that's what my daughter tells me every time she drops another deer.
oops was logged on in the wife's account.
