Anyone seen this before. New house with an internal wall of brick. White powdery mold or fungus growing on certain bricks, not all.

Quick google search says clean it with oxygenated bleach. Anyone see this before and recommend this or other treatment?

No big deal or full body HAZMAT suits with respirator?

Normal brick behavior.
Google effervescent salt stains. Its not mold, its salt.

I'm with Lake City. Mineral deposits. Mold does not look like that.

Lakecity, FTW!

Normal, just wash it off and you will be fine.

Hrmmm, in all of the thousands and thousands of linear feet of wall I've installed, I've never seen effervescence coming from the brick/block itself - always from the mortar bed between them.

I'd be hard pressed to believe a fired clay brick will suddenly start effervescing and not the mortar around it - typically the effervescence comes from the dissolved minerals in the water used to mix the mortar - the hydration process lets them come out and re-crystalize.

It could very well be run of the mill effervescence, but I've never once seen it in that manner.

Looks mineral to me, too. If it is mold, a 1:10 bleach dilution in a spray bottle should do the trick.

Make sure you do not have a hidden moisture source.
