By far would recommend smitty's. My buddy and I recently tried to go all over central texas and get the best barbeque as recommended by texas monthly. Smittys is one of the best and I recommend getting the pork ribs

Blacks was great, Smittys is great, keuetz's was awesome. Not much help, but I don't think you can go wrong

Hardly the "acid test", but I was working in Lockhart yesterday and hit Black's for a sliced brisket sandwich. It was tender, and flavorful. On a lark, I had a link of their Hatch green chili sausage - outstanding.

I've been to all but Chisholm Trail, and IMO Black's and Kreuz' are pretty close in quality. I was pretty disappointed with Smitty's, however.

Tues/Thurs spend your $2.60 and get the chicken fried steak sandwich at Chisholm Trail to fill you up after breaking the bank eating at any of the other 3 places in town.

It sure fit the bill for me after limiting out on birds Tues.

Smittys or Luling City Market are best IMO. Kreuz is too gimmicky with no sides, silverware, and sauce. Dumb.

Kruez's had sides and silverware when i was in about 2 months ago. Just have to go to a different counter to order them.

Don't need sauce though.

Just had a coworker bring me back some Blacks brisket and the small sausage links and they were awesome. While he and his wife were there the got the beef ribs and he couldnt quit talking about them.

Meh...didn't realize they had sides. My bad! I like BBQ sauce and think its a critical aspect of any BBQ restaurant. It's BBQ not filet.
