This bear was chased for days, to the point of exhaustion by her team of dogs. Finally the bear stopped running and tried to hold the dogs at bay as they attacked him. During the attack Ms. Leqve pierced this poor bear to death with arrows. As you can see she is very proud to be the first woman to kill a polar bear with a high powered bow; one of her goals is to attract the attention of Sarah Palin. The beautiful terrified and tortured bear now stands in a doorway of a business in Canada. Ms. Leque is a avid trophy hunter who has also tracked, terrified, and killed big cats, black bears, and uncountless hooved animals. She has her own blog and declares herself a mentor to other women and even to children – teaching them her ‘blood sport’, how to kill innocent animals with bow and arrow. She also declares Sarah Palin to be her “IDOL”. This kind of despicable act is truly a black eye for Delta Airlines who employ a person of this caliber. For the bear who suffered a horrific death for ego, “glory”, money and/or attention – please sign.

I can't really say I'd proudly hunt a polar bear, but if she was licensed and he was legal game, then so be it.

I just think it's funny the hyperbole the writer used. "high power bow" lol. I'm surprised it wasn't an "assault bow" with armor piercing arrows.

If I ever killed a polar bear I would have it stuffed and holding a bottle of coke.

FYI- polar bears are not endangered. And from reading stuff, evidently the world populations are actually on the rise. Further the whole "global warming is killing polar bears" has been shown to be a myth.

As soon as I can afford to do it-I'm going.

I'm not sure how they hunt them these days, but an older relative of mine used to say that the tags for polar bears were regulated by the Eskimo tribes. Again I have no idea if this is true or not, but apparently a hunter would be assigned to a Eskimo guide along with his family and they would go live out on the ice for a few weeks--letting the polar bears hunt them rather than the other way around.

I guess it used to be too dangerous the other way around.

Finn, I agree their population is stable to increasing, but that is about the end of agreement. I wouldn't say their future is particularly great. Probably not as dire as normally portrayed, but not real rosy either when you look at associated populations.

Funny, if the author loves polar bears so much, why doesn't she go and see a polar bear face to face without the inch thick zoo glass. Let's see how innocent and beautiful she thinks it is as it has her for dinner...

You should let that picture be your only knowledge of that chick. Don't google her or you'll only be disappointed.

Sean- for a chick in her 40s she's pretty solid. At least from the neck down. She's from Minnesota, as near as I can tell, and as such she's got the typically horrible "heartland hair." It's 20 years behind the times.

Ursus- I didn't say that the outlook for polar bears is particularly rosy but I'd argue that management via hunting is a crucial role in its future.
