How long do you want to ignore this user?
I just adopted a 9 month old german shepherd/husky mix and she can jump the backyard fence! There is nothing on the ground for her to jump off of but using the corner to propel herself up (I assume using the section of fence with the bottom 2x4 to propel herself up). I was thinking of screwing plywood horizontally on the top 2x4 (think of an overhang) so that she cant get up. Any other suggestions? The other guy is my 1.5 year old Akita Jambi.

great looking pup! I would go with razorwire on the top of the fence. Should solve the problem.

or invisible fence.

How high is your fence...?

It's a standard 6ft fence. B*tch got ups!!

I think I might have found a solution though. Garden fencing (rabbit fence) around the perimeter on top and then folded over at 90 degrees so she can't get up on it. Pretty cheap solution.

Hot wire, run around the top perimeter and bottom perimeter. Keep weeds clear of the bottom one.

Top one is to keep her from jumping, bottom one is to keep her from digging under.

Unless she's like my Ridgie and figures out that if she buries the bottom line first she can then dig under it. That dog was freaky smart.

Was the DirecTV guy drunk when he ran your coax?

If you have to tie him up make sure you have a leash longer than the fence is tall. My cousins Doberman would jump the fence and we had her tied up in the back yard. She broke free and when she jumped the fence the knot in the leash snagged on the pickets and left her hanging with her hind legs a few inches off the ground on the other side of the fence. She would have been a goner if my cousin's mom didn't come home when she did to she her dangling in the air.

Buy the fence a gun.

But seriously folks, the rabbit wire at the bottom is what I've seen in the past.

Have a friend whose dog hung itself jumping the fence as described above. Mom.did not get home in time.

I had a siberian husky that could jump a six foot fence nearly flat footed. But he was an inside dog, so it was just a fun party trick. Best dog I ever had, I miss him every day.

You have to find a way to keep him away from the base of the fence. Hot-wire won't work for long I don't think.

Electric fence -- run a hot wire at base of fence. Higher on fence run a hot wire and a ground wire in tandom, obviously not touching but close enough so a dog jumping in the air will touch both the hot wire and ground wire simultaneously. Otherwise the electrified wire 4 or 5 feet off the ground is not going to bother that dog one bit when he is airborne (assuming your fence is wood or otherwise not a conductor).

Once that dog is zapped a time or two he will not be looking to touch that wire again. You could probably turn it off at that point.
