Been looking around 2cool. Don't like the idea of craigslist or ebay.

Not really in the market right now but I'd like to 'shop' for one, you know the way women shop for their crap.

I got mine off of craigslist in 2007 and could sell it for 2k more today than I paid for it back then. It has been a great boat. You have to comb through the scams and the junk no doubt, but you can get some phenomenal deals. You are going to have a hard time getting that value from anyone other than a private seller in my opinion. I would just buy new if I wasn't willing to mess with the hassle of a private seller.

I found mine in front of a boat shot near Conroe, but had looked at quite a few on craigslist. I would start there. It is just hit and miss finding one on a consignment lot

This - use all available methods. Practically every large lake in TX has nearby boat storage facilities, boat shops, etc., and most have used boats for sale. Plus online resources and print classified ads.

Originally saw my boat on ebay. It did not sell. I contacted the ownwer and shot them a lowball price. They accepted. I probably saved somewhere between $7,000 to $10,000 off of what it would have retailed for. Seller was really motivated.

The boat before that one I bought off of a consignment lot at a really good price. The one before that I bought off of a used boat place in Aransas Pass. The one before that I first saw sitting in a parking lot in front of a business with a for sale sign and a phone number. I called the owner, test drove the boat, shot him a lowball price, he accepted and I paid him in cash. The whole process took about three hours.

Lots of consignment lots down here in Clear Lake. You can find some good deals. What kind of boat are you looking for? Bayboat, offshore fisherman, ski boat, bass boat, flats boat, cruiser?

Depends on what you're looking for too.

We found all ours on Boat Trader, though this was well before craiglist and ebay.

Lots of boats aren't worth much, some still hold their value. Used wakeboard boats are still worth quite a bit due to the cost of new boats sky rocketing in the last 8 years. We paid 22k for my boat 12 years ago, on a good day I could get 17k for it. All driven by the price of new.

If you are looking for a salt water boat take a day or weekend and ride around Port O'Connor, Seadrift, Port Aransas, etc--all the boar shops have a number of used boats for sale.

2Cool has quite a number too, as you already mentioned.

Island that is probably what I will do. Have cash in hand and see if I can find a deal.
