How long do you want to ignore this user?
Everyone dreams of going on a once in a life time halibut or salmon fishing in Alaska. But where to start?! There are so many guides, and the prices, options, and amenities are all over the place as you can see here and here. My hope is that TA outdoor board can share their experiences w/ detailed info that will help to differentiate between various guides that hopefully offer the same great competency.

In order to help others plan the perfect, once-in-a-lifetime fishing adventure in Alaska, I ask that you sit down and write a cliff note or narrative length account of your particular, personal experience with your guide.

In the future with TA's help, I hope to be able to expand and organize this thread along the lines of "All Inclusive", "Fly in All inclusive", "Fly in self guided", "Day Guides", and "Bank Fishing".

Feel free to make recommendations as obviously it is a WIP.

TIA

Now that you've caught and flown hundreds of pounds of fish back home, you need to have a party to free up freezer space. Perhaps if you are extraordinarily bold or skillful, you could take some of that fresh Salmon and make Sushi or smoke it for preservation.*

*Disclaimer: I've only had sushi a few times and know nothing about the health risks (common parasites) associated with rolling your own sushi with fish you just caught. Posted on a site that sells salmon:
Can I make sushi with my Wild Alaskan Salmon?
As long as it has been marked as "sushi-grade"; meaning that it has been frozen at -10F for at least 15 hours to kill any parasites. *

did this last night.

3/4 cup lite soy sauce
1/3 cup honey
1tbsp minced garlic

reduce all to 1/2. marinate both sides of the salmon 15 minutes or so (save a few tbsps of marinade). oven @ 450' for 15min. remove salmon, pour/brush extra marinade over it. raise heat to broil, broil for 2-3 mins.

pretty solid. probably will add some red pepper to it for some kick next time.
