I have seen this guy mentioned on here several times. As I had mentioned in another thread a few weeks ago, my wife is in the process of moving her mother out of a house that she has lived in since the 70's. Documents, pictures, etc., hidden in piles of junk. She wa sorting through some stuff this weekend and lo & behold she unrolls a Bejnamin Knox drawing. I told her we should get it framed. She gave me the "really" look and rolled it back up. I sat it in the "keep" pile though. My wife and her brother both went to A&M. She is class of '97 and he is class of '95. But neither one knows when the m-i-l bought it.

You can Google his stuff, he has a web site. I suspect the print is still available.

He may not be any Michael Angelo or Pauly Picassa, but he was producing A&M artwork when no one else was. So I give him credit for that. His heart was in the right place, and if he's trying to make a buck, who can blame him?

You don't have to buy his stuff if you don't want it.

His older landscapes were fine. Not fine art, but perfectly good and sentimental.

His non-human work tends to be better. He just seems to have issues with body part proportions and humans in general.

I've got a few pieces of his.

My wife bought two of his works for B-day and Christmas presents about 10 years ago when he was displaying his art on the Riverwalk in SA.

Silver Taps and Bonfire. I think both are excellent pieces.

Here is a cell phone pic of it. The detail is actually prety good on it, the cell pic does not do it justice. The only part that looks a bit "off" are the Corps guys in uniform in the part above the artillery piece. I'm pretty sure we are gonna get it framed.

BTW... In that century tree drawing, nevermind that the bench and the tree are on the West side of the sidewalk, not the East... I do actually like his landscapes in general. Agree with others that they're better than his people shots.

I don't dislike him or his drawings as much as others apparently do. Have only met him a couple of times socially and he was pleasant to me. I think his art is nice enough for what it is. I'll admit it seems easy for his critics to spoof his style but he is doing something that no one else is doing in Aggieland. On balance I see more good than bad there.

I don't see anything wrong with the location of the tree... it's taken from the point of view near Bolton, North side of the plaza looking towards the Academic Building.

Played frisbee with him sporadically. Nice enough guy and never understood the hate for him.

Umm... Fair enough. Show's you how much time I spent under there!

There is a sidewalk on the other side too.

The one you normally walk down. It angles and merges just beyond the tree.

Terk, have the same one in my office. Got it as a graduation gift He was there when I picked it up so he personalized it and initialed.

The only time I ever turned back around when heading home from NG was when I was trying to figure out where that hottie that was coming back with me was. If she couldn't make it through the fence, it was a full out sprint to lose her!!
