We've been trying to reconstruct our existing tank into 5 surface acres. The wildfires showed us that having 5 acres worth of water is a great insurance policy against losing miles and miles of fences if the helicopters can load up from our own tank.

Problem is that it is very hard to find anybody near Ozona (Crockett County) that has experience excavating ponds and constructing dams other than the oilfield tanks. Anybody have any recommendations? We cant seem to find anybody willing to get it done besides people all the way out of Corpus and thats going to cost us a whole lot.

Any referrals would be greatly appreciated! FYI this is intended to be a bass lake/tank.

Might want to check with the Soil Conservation Service. They assist in planning/building tanks and could probably point you to someone that knows how to build tanks.

Call my buddy Trey with Cedar Beetle. His cell is (830)426-6435. Check out his website at www.cedarbeetle.com

He's out of Leakey now but we grew up together in Hondo and he's class of '04 at A&M. Knows his stuff. He's 3rd generation in road construction/land clearing/tank construction industry and started his business from scratch about 5 years ago.

I can recommend two companies I've worked with, both out of Kerrville, J3 and Edmund Jenschke.

Jenschke's phone number is 830.896.6706, ask to speak with Jack Wells.

J3 you will have to google, ask for P.J. or Hugh Jons. PJ is a good Ag, construction science grad.

Hope your place survived the fires. Our deer lease about 30 miles SW of Ozona looks like the blackened surface of the moon, everything is gone.

Allen Keller out of Fredricksburg is Aggie owned and I know of several tanks/lakes they have built. Ask for Mark Cornett, class of 95.

I'll second Jenschke from Kerrville.

Try Ty Williams USDA NRCS Ozona field office - 325.392.2301. They have a list of all the conservation contractors in the area.
