Seriously, a feral bull in the Andres Mountains of South America. WTF?!?!? A freaking cow!!!! The ending is coming up next. This is pathetic.

Was it a Bull or a Cow? I'm confused.

You ever tried handling a pissed off momma cow? Multiply that by about 10, and add in some bison and auroch instincts.

Think much larger version of a feral hog.

It's a bull. I guess they know its kind of messed up when they end the show saying that "hunting bulls might not be everyone's cup of tea." I've never seen them say anything like that at the end of a show. To each his own. Next thing you know, we will have people with high-fenced ranches selling "bull hunts" in Texas.

we're already there. i've seen a couple of exotic high fence places offering watusi hunts. i don't think that they were cheap either.

Feral lidia bull, not exactly your average cow. Think of your average feral hog and how different it is than your standard farm pig. Now take your average Spanish fighting bull, and let him go feral.---Not that I am inclined to hunt a cow, but these aren't far off a buffalo in temperament.

Here's Shockey's story on the matter.

Hunting feral cattle in Australia is pretty common.

Well, I googled "feral lidia bull" to find out a little more about the species and believe it or not, the first link that popped up came to this......

Like I said before....to each his own. It's still just a cow.

And a feral pig is just a pig, and people get excited about that.

Watusi hunts http://www.texashuntlodge.com/watusi_hunt_package.asp $2250.00 for a trophy Watusi, $4500.00 for a record Watusi.

Very good friend of mine (Sqd. 6 mid to late 80's) has a high fenced place in South Texas. White Tail, Oryx, Black Buck and Axis and he has a small herd of about 12-15 longhorns that his dad had as a kind of gimmick.

For the past 15 years or so they have only sold 6 or 7 hunts per year and the same one family out of NYC has bought nearly 100% of them.

Last year the oldest member of the family told the manager that he already has everything he ever wanted as far as game except for one little thing ...... a Texas longhorn. he proceeds to hem and haw before just asking straight up if he could whack a longhorn to be mounted. Ranch hands could have the meat.

Ranch owner tells him that they have already all been taken off of that ranch and are now 30 miles away at another pasture and about to be sold out in a longhorn cattle auction. Hunter asks if for $5,000 will they pick out one with the biggest horns and haul it back to the ranch and turn it out to be hunted? Owner says "Sure! What color you like?"

A few weeks later, he came down with 3 or 4 other family members, whacks the longhorn and they took some other game animals, paid the total and flew back to NYC. Happy campers.

Free market capitalism at its best.

From Shockey's blog.....

"Might look like domestic cattle, but the feral bulls of Peru are WILD as wild can be. Super spooky and difficult to stalk. Mean-spirited, too ..."

My brother sold one of his old Spanish goat billys to a friend that guides hunts. It was a pretty mean goat, broke my brother's nose twice but was domestic. Know quite a few places that sell hunts on goats/sheep that aren't exactly wild and in pens that are just large enough the "hunter" can't see all the fences at once.

Ya helped a buddy of mine this summer round up a bunch of wild spanish goats. He sold them to several hunting ranches, that sell them as Catalina hunts or something like that.

Bow hunting feral bulls in thick South Texas brush would be some of the hairiest hunting on this continent.

I bet you could make many purses outta that toro.

Absolutely NO DIFFERENT than "Texas Mouflon", Barbado, or Corsican hunts. People have also been known to hunt Rambouillet and sell spanish billy goat hunts. I don't personally agree with any of this, but at least that bull is truly feral, not purchased from producers livestock auction in San Angelo.

So yall are basically saying when you are hunting feral hogs, it is no different than simply looking for a duroc?

Pretty interesting to find wild cattle hanging around higher than anything in Colorado. That would certainly add a level of pain in the rearness (lack of better term).

Here is a link to hunting feral cattle as well in Hawaii. When I saw what they shot, I kinda thought about a hereford cow for some reason.

takes to about 4:15 to get to the shooting.

No, it's the same as going out and shooting a wild horse. Would you do that?

Since you can't tell the difference between a bull and a cow, I can now see your point.

Wild horses are non-native and considered an invasive species (by many), so wouldn't bother me.

What is the line for when livestock is wild? Do we simply go on appearance, behavior, some combination.
Furlock Bones

ursus, hunting is not excluded from hypocrisy.
txaggie02
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Let's just put it this way.....you aren't going to find me hunting any animal that someone is riding in a rodeo arena. Period. I don't care how invasive, non-native, or whatever it is.

Greased pig contest....

There was a couple of times when I was living in AZ that I thbought I was going to have to pop a wildass cow out in the desert out of self defense.

I get that most (me included really) won't ever consider this hunting in the traditional sense, but these cattle aren't your run of the mill FFA cattle. They are wild and they can be mean and dangerous, make no mistake about it.

When they know you are in the are, you will be lucky to get within a few hundred yard before they bolt the other direction fast too. I would be willing to bet that hunting a feral cow is as difficult and dangerous as it gets short of things one finds in Africa.

Hmmmm... let's see. Water buffalo have been domesticated in a number of places, so have bison and cape buffalo. So anyone who shoots a water buffalo anywhere in the world is now a first class p***y.

I'll get the word out.

HEY MANNY! YOU'RE A P***Y! (for a whole new reason!)

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well it is not in a rodeo arena but they appear to be hunting this pig while they are riding it.

I desparately tried to find a picture of a deer in a rodeo for like 2 whole minutes. This is the best I could come up with.
